Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) declared on the Senate floor Thursday that the debate over whether humans are causing climate change is over, and that it has been shown conclusively that human activity is leading to global warming.
"People say there are questions about the theory," he said. "No, there are not.
"The argument that the jury is still out on climate change is a false and bogus argument," he added. "The jury is not out. In fact, the jury is in, the effects are obvious, they surround us every day, and we need to take action."
Whitehouse said the theory that warmth creates a moist atmosphere that traps heat has been around since the Civil War. "That's been basic textbook science for a century," he said. "It's never been controverted. It's a law, essentially, of science."

Oh.
Well...if we aren't permitted to exercise our First Amendment rights then I guess it's on to the Second.
Shut up you meathead, you.
Whew! I feel better now.
Forget global warming - it's Solar Cycle 25 and the next Ice Age we need to worry about
IOW.....let’s continue the GLOBAL redistribution of wealth......and $$$$ going to despots, etc.
This all started a few years ago when Bono (contrived by the UN) was screaming that the US should ‘forgive’ 3rd World countries of their ‘debt’. It goes on and on.

Now you were saying Senator?
All ‘rats should go jump in the ocean to show how much it’s rising.
Sheldon Whitehouse is an A-hole, and always has been the same!
Actually, I was shocked that the National Geographic did a comprehensive article on the sun, and explained that the sun goes though many differing cycles of output, from 11 year cycles to thousand year cycles.
Yeah, I was amazed, but more amazing was that the article didn’t mention global warming - er - climate change.
So I wrote a letter to the editor thanking them for some real science about the variability of the sun. Doubt it will get published.
BTY, the output of the sun is the equivalent to exploding 100 million hydrogen bombs per second - and to think that some gases coming out of your clean tailpipe scrubed of emmissions by a platinum screen in your catalytic converter are causing global weather variation.
Total madness!
Me: Democrat blowhards are causing climate change, the debate is over.
ALL democRATs suck, saying otherwise is ‘bogus’.
Well since we are about to hit the “singularity” in about 20 years anyways, Any climate change won’t mean a hill of beans anyways...
Whitehouse was born in New York City, New York, the son of Mary Celine (née Rand) and career diplomat Charles S. Whitehouse, and grandson of diplomat Sheldon Whitehouse. He graduated from St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, and from Yale University in 1978

During the passing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Whitehouse cautioned that conservative opposition to the bill was moving toward historical incidences of mob violence, saying “Too many colleagues are embarked on a desperate, no-holds-barred mission of propaganda, obstruction and fear. . . . History cautions us of the excesses to which these malignant, vindictive passions can ultimately lead. Tumbrils have rolled through taunting crowds. Broken glass has sparkled in darkened streets. Strange fruit has hung from southern trees.”
In December 2009, Whitehouse said “birthers,” “fanatics,” and “people running around in right-wing militia and Aryan support groups “oppose America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009.
Whitehouse has said that development of alternate energy sources, including solar power, will eliminate U.S. dependence on foreign oil
Whitehouse dismissed Climategate: Climategate should properly be known as climategate-gate because it was the scandal that was phony.

Someone should tell this A-hole that a “Theory” is NOT a proven fact.
No, the use of the word "jury" is a lame straw-man attempt to frame an issue as something that has a discussion and then a consensus. This is the case if the issue was a political one. But, it's not.... it's a scientific one. And there is no such entity of a jury... just a lot of interested scientists, some wanting grant money saying that there is man-made GW, and some honest scientists saying the whole notion is a bunch of crap.
What we’re looking at right now is another LITTLE ice age such as started around the time of Joan of Arc and is caused by fluctuations in solar output. Real ice ages have cosmic causes and centuries worth of warning, we are not in danger of anything like that.
I dunno about you'ns but that settles it for me.
