The argument by Ladd comes down to mainly one thing: The State can be trusted, but the individual can not. Statists have false assumptions about reality.

Do these people you can walk away safely from , have a sign on them saying, leave your money and walk away safely?
Or does it say say to women ,just give it up without a fight and you can walk away safely except a bit used?

George Zimmerman made forty-six 911 calls. And if you don’t look too closely it is easy to miss the fact that he made those calls over a period of 7½ years for an average of a little more than one call every two months.

The newsmedia made a big deal about these 46 calls early on -- forgetting of course to report that the 46 calls were over a 7.5 year time period.

Included in the totals are 2 calls to report fire alarms going off, 3 repeat/follow-up calls for the same incident, 2 calls when his house alarm went off when he wasn’t home, calls for garage doors left open, disturbances . . . if you winnow through the chaff you find 9 reports of suspicious persons or behavior. Nine calls in 7½ years doesn’t sound nearly as over-the-top as 46 though.

Oh they forgot that too.

Unmentioned in the linked story is the fact that police had been called to the community four hundred and two times in the 13 months preceding the shooting (11 of those calls (or 2.7%) were from Zimmerman).

And how did they miss this??? It sounds like a very disturbed community with a lot of problems. They should have had a neighborhood watch program with somebody diligent enough to run it. Oh that's right. They did.

Laddie ignores a broad spectrum of other possible choices

One possible choice is that the perp not commit a violent assault in the first place. Some of us go through our whole lives without threatening innocent folks on the street going about their own business. Some of us learned in nursery school not to invade the private space of other people. It isn't hard.

“Coalition to Stop Gun Violence”
The leftist aka progressive gun hater concept of preventing gun violence. Is to arrest the guns, and allow the criminals to remain on the streets.
