neither Romneys father nor his sons have served in the military....Nor his grandfather, great grandfather or great great grandfather...SIX generations...
As both a veteran of Gulf War 1 and Bosnia, the son of a WWII vet who endured Kamikaze attacks and a ship sinking and the father of a Marine currently on his second deployment to Afghanistan, I find those comments of yours insulting and demeaning. What ever attributes or lack of that Romney has, his military service is not part of the equation.
FWIW, I took two deferments in college. So, I guess that makes anyone who took a deferment a draft dodger too?
The point of this article is that Romney is taking heat for not serving his country all the while giving Obama a pass on his lack of service.
I guess I can see why Obama never served though...you have to have a valid birth certificate.
“FWIW, I took two deferments in college. So, I guess that makes anyone who took a deferment a draft dodger too?”
Your statement just triggered a memory. In 1969 I burned both my draft notice as well as my draft card.
I’d just gotten home from a tour with 509th RR Gp, MACV and did it as a joke. For some reason the local draft board never got word I enlisted as was in Vietnam when they decided to draft me.
The Romneys came here in 1842 to serve Joseph Smith personally, they did not gravitate to Smith after coming here to be American, they immigrated to America solely to serve Mormonism, and Mitt's family has never done differently, even his own father was born in Mexico, where his family had moved to because of the families anti-Americanism.
No war, no peace time, no draft, no wave of patriotism, has ever snagged one from his line, Romney is the second of his line to run for Commander in Chief of American Armed Forces during wartime, in a row.
This family won't do military service, but they do crave the presidency.
Mitt Romney is an actual "chicken-hawk", he mocked and demonstrated against others hesitant to serve and then moved to France to avoid military service and to avoid the media as his father ran for the presidency as the anti-war, anti-military, republican.
As an immigrant who wanted to serve the country of her ancestors, and who called the 800 number to answer the draft when I heard my birthday announced on the radio just one month after arriving in the US in 1971, I say you go ahead and be as phony and so called insulted as you know how to be...
Knock your silly self out..
After the man told me I wasnt included because I was a woman, I enlisted...
and wore my uniform the day I became an American citizen..
