Politicians are calling for a boycott of HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones because of the creator's 'despicable' decision to include former President George W. Bush's severed head in several scenes. In the tenth episode of the first season, Mr Bush's decapitated head is barely recognizable impaled on a wooden spike, covered in filthy long hair and slathered in dirt. But show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who noted the appearance in the series' DVD commentary, insist it wasn't a political statement - just a prop. The finale of the first season of Game of Thrones, Fire and Blood, one of the series' beloved characters Ned Stark is beheaded by new king Jeoffrey for treason. In one brutal scene, King Jeoffrey brings his bride-to-be to gaze upon the severed head of her father.

The evil HBO leftists busted again.
Seriously - so what?
They got the hair wrong.
Bunch of morons in Hollywood. What earthly connection is there between Bush and the Game of Thrones? I don’t watch TV, but I read the original three fantasy books, before the author flaked out, and they are based on the medieval British Wars of the Roses between York and Lancaster.
Yikes; what happened to W’s lips? They’re AWOL!
After the constant barrage of criticism from the midget Bill Maher, I cancelled by HBO subscription. Now that the Game of Thrones adds too the HBO bias against conservatives my decision is confirmed correct. In the process, I also saved $30/mo. on my cable bill. Consider dropping HBO.
Idiots! But it’s a pretty good show.
Based on the blurry profile of the head I’d say it’s a stretch at best to make the comparison.
The libs would be the first to bitch if it were Dumbo’s head.
Obviously, I can see somebody doing this as an insider joke. But, from what I’ve read of television production, producing a weekly show is a very harried process, with not a lot of time to think about anything else but getting the show done. I can also see some producer, just grabbing some head and gluing a wig and liking it, because he’s only got five minutes to get it done.
I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt in this case.
I’ve never understood why Americans revere their senior politicians so much. The concept of lese majesty has no place in a free country in the 21st century...
Nose hole is also wrong. I think this is another Rorschach Test case. There is a resemblance, but people are mostly seeing what they want to see.
Imagine a popular show created by conservatives [hard to do, I know] that had Obama’s head up on a stick. How do you think it would be received?
I’m sick of the double standard, and the left should be called out for their nastiness.
As if I needed another reason to never subscribe or support that degenerate network.
I regretably ran into HBO last week in a motel when I was traveling, and briefly caught a glimpse of that deviant Bill Maher’s disgusting face. Really made me ill. How I’d love to catch that bastard in an alley with a pipe-wrench in my hand.
I won’t give them a pass on this.
It was clearly deliberate and calculated. Of all the “heads” they have, they choose GWs? Just because it was at hand? ONLY GW’s?
No way.
Most likely it was “let’s use GW’s head and pull a fast one. It will be our joke.”
I think we should look forward to the next severed head and this time it will be Obama’s. Imagine the UPROAR over that one. Does anyone think if they used The Messiahs head and said they did so because it was convenient that everyone would say, “Oh, okay then.”
Not bloody likely.
It is disrespectful no matter what presidents head they use. And that was their intent all along.
The a**hats at HBO may have had a chuckle when they did this but they in fact by accident matched Bush up with the one character in the book I would probably best identify him with. A fine man, far better than his peers and successor, but too damned trusting for his own good.
When this happens with outrage, let me know. Until then - the point is moot.
We revere our founding fathers.
We respect the office of the president.
We don’t necessarily respect the person in the office but we take offense to assaulting a symbol of our great nation.
An utter crock. That head could be anyone’s, even mine. Somebody isn’t getting enoug sleep.
