RUSH: Birmingham, Alabama. This is Orson. Orson, thank you for calling. I'm glad to have you with us today. Hi.
CALLER: Hi, Rush. It's good to talk to you.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: I just wanted to make a confession to you. I voted for President Barack Obama, and I happen to be a black American. I'm also a conservative. And I voted for him because he was black. I know that may offend some people, but it wouldn't be realistic in my opinion that a minority could ascend to the presidency. So I would have voted for the first minority whether he'd been Jewish, or Asian, or Hispanic.
RUSH: I understand.
CALLER: So he had my vote.
RUSH: Orson?
CALLER: But when I look at it now --
RUSH: Orson, I totally understand that. You don't have to apologize or make excuses for that. Everybody's aware of the historical nature of that election, particularly for black Americans. That's totally understandable. The question is: Are you gonna do it this year?
CALLER: Absolutely not. I mean, that decision was made a long time ago that he was not getting our votes again, mine or my wife's. Because we talk about everything together, and we're small business, and he's been a lousy president. I mean, that's just the fact of it. And we don't have the option for on-the-job training. So we need someone who really understands and knows what they're doing on the first day they take office.
RUSH: Orson, let me ask you a very serious question -- and I'm asking this because I really want to know. I'm trying to learn here. That never stops with me. At what point, for you, did the fact that the president is black stop being a factor for you?
CALLER: Oh, when the economy just continued to get worse. When we're right at the debt that we cannot pay. I have -- we have -- a small business, my wife and I, and we can't run a business that way. We can't incur bills that we have no hopes of paying and no way to get out of this. We don't have the income coming in, so we can't keep running a massive deficit. And he turned down the pipeline and --
RUSH: Well, you're still... In terms of that kind of thinking, you're a minority. But it does appear that at least according to polling data in North Carolina, that Obama is losing some support that he had from black voters in 2008. There's no question. A lot of white people voted for Obama in '08 because he was black. They were hoping it would be the end of racism and all the acrimony.
But I'm glad you called.
Great to have you in the audience, Orson.
END TRANSCRIPT
Rush’s whitey bum kissing with that pitiful racist was disgusting. That was a chance to discuss liberal racism and how destructive it is to wealth and happiness in the US - for everybody - regarless of skin color.
Racist Blacks are an anchor on the ass of USS America. It’s way past time to cut them loose and challenge the liberals’ race hate game for pinko power.
really, that kind of thinking makes absolutely makes no sense to me. When Obama was running I was thinking “OMG! That guy’s going to increase our national debt, increase unemployment, increase taxes, give money to his liberal cronies, he’ll might legalize 20 million illegal immigrants, he’ll give federal funding for abortions, advance the homosexual agenda, and weaken our military, and he’ll be responsible for making life time appointments to the Supreme Court. There are so many serious issues that it makes my stomach hurt.” How does someone say “COOOL...A black guy. I vote for him”
I agree, “historical”? Selecting the first communist and anti-american usurper president is treasonous, not historical.
I agree wid dat yo! Rush’s response was pathetic!!!!
But, but, but....doesn’t he know 0bama’s got his back?!?
I will confess that I had a little advantage. You see, I wanted to be a college English Lit professor. I had been to very conservative college prep schools, and a fairly conservative small private college, so the pictures I had in my head of that scenario were embarrassingly anachronistic.
But what I saw when I studied to get my Master's at an urban state university shocked and frightened me, 20 years ago. I could see where this was all headed, and Obama embodied everything evil about that trend.
I knew how this would end up, to the degree that the only hope I had, and have, is that he is so incompetent and tone-deaf to the world outside the academy walls that the good people of the US would toss him out on his rear.
That's easy to answer. He was probably watching and listening to the mainstream media. He never heard a single mention of any of the things you pointed out.
Who was that other guy that said a bunch of stuff in his auto-biography that noone believed? Drawing a blank. Back in the 20s . . . . anyone??
Dumbass
“I happen to be a black American. I’m also a conservative.”
Not a whole lot of those in the voting public.
Now when they start calling in and saying, “I happen to be a black American. I’m also a liberal, and I’m not voting for him”, then we’re looking at a landslide. And it well may happen.
That's the bottom line. People tend to vote their wallets. With the black constituency, that revolves around entitlements (for those on welfare), expansion of government (for government employees) and affirmative action (for those seeking employment). They will vote for candidates who promise things that will benefit them.
Now, just because they're souring on Obama, does not mean that they are now fans of the Republicans, except for those in the private sector who depend on a robust economy for their survival.
If those of us who saw the light early on cannot accept and team up with those whom we might win over to our side, then we will never sustain a majority. A productive, tax-paying small businessman has admitted that he violated his principles in favor of his feelings in 2008 - but vows he will not be fooled again. How is that not a good thing? What's not to celebrate when another pair of eyes is opened?
"I'm aboard, pull up the ladder!" is the childish response of one who believes that nobody who arrives after him has any right to climb on. I'm glad Orson has come back to his senses - and I hope there will be a lot more just like him to join us on November 6.
Today is D-146...
Thinking the same thing!! /s
At least he is HONEST!!
“Trailerpark Badass” Translation, idiot.
That's not quite correct, he said he was a "Black American". He could have said he was a Black Afro-American, but he chose to call himself a Black American. I'll give him the yardage toward being a true conservative for that statement. But I agree, he still has a way to go to being a true Red, White and Blue Conservative.
Thank you for a well reasoned reply — about the only one. Admittedly, he was somewhat anonymous, but it took courage to go on national radio and admit that he screwed up and vow not to do it again. We do need to win people’s hearts and minds and chasing them away for prior sins won’t do it.
Very well said
If anyone is not a conservative it is you.
Yeah and if the Green Party has a chance to ever win
