There are those here that anything not representing PC words will come down on you like a ton of bricks. It’s happened to me several times. But since I didn’t know if the person who waited on that fictitious table was male or female (is it non-PC to even say that?) I opted out for waitperson.
I believe the accepted term is "Waitron."
