I’m going to guess that the “Giffords factor” WILL be there, very strongly, this November and beyond. Anybody connected to Giffords on that terrible day shouldn’t have any problems in winning that Congressional seat, for as long as they want it, unfortunately. It’s very similar to the “Kennedy factor” in Massachusetts (and, sometimes, in other states), where all members of the Kennedy family are connected to JFK and are treated like Gods, by way too many voters, for always.

not sure, this may have been an anomaly as in Nov, he’ll have to fight on bread and butter issues and not a “look at me, i survived a shooting” and Obama will be on the ticket whether the Dems like it or not in Nov.

If the race was close, then I would agree with what you say, but it wasn’t close.

I’m not that sure about it being a majority GOP district. There is alot of independent voting, and local politics play a big role in sizing up the crowd.

“Giffords factor” = bloody shirt politics, rarely a high point in American elections.

“Then again, these are the same “conservatives” that keep electing Juan McCain every 6 years.”

Over democrats, so what’s your point?

No Scott Walker action on this thread huh.

KCUF!!!!

I’d point to sympathy for Saint “Gabby” translating to her boy toy here. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Seat get’s a little more rat for November. Her boy led by 12 in the only poll I saw, it was closer than that. The rematch might be though with normal turnout and Osama losing the district. Call Barber Jean Carnahan.

That commie who shot Giffords should be drawn and quartered. It’s amazing how a liberal democrat getting shot and almost killed ends up helping them.

DNC tweet: “The 84 (alleged) Republican incumbents in seats less Marxist-Leninist than this one better watch out cause this is sign that everyone loves Osama and Queen Nancy now!!!”

Ooooooooo, I’m quaking at your 84 seat gain potential. For serious.

If AZ ends up with a 5-4 rat House delegation cause of this shite redistricting.......

The Republican leg needs to get rid of that crap and redraw the seats the proper way. Let Massachusetts have an “independent” commission.

Well, this is a majority GOP district, so it is a bit disappointing.

Not even close. The redistricting made it predominantly Democrat, and the preponderence of voters in the old district leaned Liberal with the influence of the UofA.

Cochise and Pinal Counties went to Jesse Kelly by 10 points, while Pima and Santa Cruz Counties tipped the scales in Barber's favor.

That’s disheartening to hear. Hopefully we can still pull it off in Nov.
