Federal authorities say they seized more than 32,000 rounds of ammunition that was likely destined for Mexico during a raid last week on a stash house in downtown Nogales.
Acting on information they developed about a stash house on Paseo del Sur, a one-block, dead-end street in a residential neighborhood on the east side of town, special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HIS) raided the home last Tuesday, June 5.
Inside, ICE said, the agents discovered a large cache of ammunition that they suspect was being staged to smuggle into Mexico.
Seized were 10,000 7.62-caliber rounds; 8,000 .223-caliber rounds; 5,000 9 mm rounds; 5,000 .38 Super rounds; 3,500 .45-caliber rounds; and 1,000 10 mm rounds.
As of Monday, no arrests had been made in the case, which remains under investigation.
What they found
10,000 7.62- caliber rounds
8,000 .223- caliber rounds
5,000 9-mm rounds
5,000 .38 Super rounds
3,500 .45-caliber rounds
1,000 10-mm rounds.
Seriously, I have more than 32K in ONE caliber.
One thousand rounds of 10mm? Ha! Must not shoot that one much.
Of course the average idiot only keeps about 3 boxes of 20 in his home, so 32,000 rounds sounds like a huge number.
More 'Fast and Furious' psyops crap from the evil government.
Oh Noes! Not the 10mm!
A right handsome shooting iron, FRiend!
38super is legal in Mehico, 45 is not.
Mine was all lost in a cave in. The hole just fell in. Gosh it was only about two feet deep, but it caved in. So I marked the spot and left.
Guess we are all Walmart to the feds now.
I like it! All those shells look like they’ve been shot though. I reload shotgun shells ...
No 10mm is for everyone who didn’t switch to 40 cal just because the FBI did.
I guess Holder told the DEA to stop the next shipment to the Cartels and they are trying to turn it into a positive news event for the MSM.
I’m with you. Ammo is not illegal. On what grounds did they seize the ammo?
Not only that, but it has to either have the pewter Mayan Calendar grips, or the mother of pearl bull’s head with ruby eyes.
Didn't see anything in .45-70.
Next time, don’t put it all in the bow.
My guess is forfeiture law, if you want to call it that. They simply state that they believe that the thing (house, car, cash, ammo) was obtained with drug money, and seize it. Then the owner has to prove that they obtained it legally, or the state keeps it.
A lot of departments fund quite a bit of their activities with that scam.
Hmmm, in Idaho we call that much ammo a start.
Was this house owned by Eric Holder?
Just want to know Where and When the Government Auction will be held.
FReeper “Labgrade” died in a home fire when firefighters refused to intervene because of ammo stored therein.
The old guy who taught me gunsmithing was a real artist. He
built muzzle loaders and they were beautiful. He was an elder
in our church and when one of the kids was sick he'd go see
them and tell them stories. He would take some of his
carving tools with him and carve one of the characters from
the story and leave it with the kid. I still have mine. Just
one of your typical hate filled Bible thumping right wing
types.
VERY nice! Why the flat trigger?
