Federal authorities say they seized more than 32,000 rounds of ammunition that was likely destined for Mexico during a raid last week on a stash house in downtown Nogales.
Acting on information they developed about a stash house on Paseo del Sur, a one-block, dead-end street in a residential neighborhood on the east side of town, special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations (ICE HIS) raided the home last Tuesday, June 5.
Inside, ICE said, the agents discovered a large cache of ammunition that they suspect was being staged to smuggle into Mexico.
Seized were 10,000 7.62-caliber rounds; 8,000 .223-caliber rounds; 5,000 9 mm rounds; 5,000 .38 Super rounds; 3,500 .45-caliber rounds; and 1,000 10 mm rounds.
As of Monday, no arrests had been made in the case, which remains under investigation.
What they found
10,000 7.62- caliber rounds
8,000 .223- caliber rounds
5,000 9-mm rounds
5,000 .38 Super rounds
3,500 .45-caliber rounds
1,000 10-mm rounds.
Think I have that much in my couch
Why did they impound the ammunition?
They are still trying to peddle the “lax U.S. gun laws are responsible for Drug Cartel violence” B.S..
Unless they have evidence of another crime, this is an illegal seizure.
You know you have enough when you start making furniture with the unopened cases.
I don't believe there were any 'citizens' living in that house, from the description.
marktwain,
Lady friend of mine is an EMT firewoman in Duval county, Florida. (Jacksonville) She is in rural western part of the county and I asked, soooo, since there are no really big tall building in your area, what is the danger?
She said, “ everyone” out here be it a mansion or a single wide trailer has an arsenal.
Ya never know when said arsenal is going to go off.
Don’t be around me house if it catches fire.
Coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
He should have bought gold. Brass and lead is worthless if confiscated
THAT is unlawful now?
Lucky I lost all of mine in that boating accident this spring I guess.
You've got to be kidding.
At the price of ammo now? It would take a second mortgage.
But I know what you mean. I have a battle box full of 1,440 round and thought that was a lot.
I have more than that within 5 feet of me, and probably 10x that total stashed away... before the boating accident, of course.
how much is confiscated gold worth? illegally confiscated is illegally confiscated.
That reminds me - I’m a little low on 10mm.
I purchased much of my SHTF ammo during the clintoon years.
The value of that investment has kept pace with the increase in the price of gold.
Still - 32K rounds is a good start, but one shouldn’t stop there.
Just barely got me beat on .38 Super.
Well, someone had a good start....................
It’s very popular in Mexico because for a long time they had a law prohibiting “military” calibers, i.e. the .45.
It is a great round though, I scored two boxes of Silvertips a couple days ago for a good price. They seem to feed in my LW Commander better than Cor-Bon.
Piker. I use mine as as coffee table. :)
I’m kinda suspect that the 10mm and .38super are for drug cartels. Price would be cheaper.
