It may come as a surprise to some of her fans, but Carrie Underwood has announced her support for gay marriage.
The devoutly Christian "Jesus, Take the Wheel" country singer spoke out to The Independent on why she believes marriage should be legal for all.
"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry," Underwood, 29, explained. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."
The American Idol winner was raised in a Baptist church, but now attends a non-denominational church with her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher.
"Our church is gay friendly," she said. "Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."
And the Christian star from Oklahoma doesn't agree with "people who use the Bible for hate."
"That's not how I would want myself as a Christian to be represented."

youre welcome
Carrie Underwood is probably the most popular singer in the country right now.
I don’t believe she said this to gain fans or fame. She has both.
However, I am glad Tony Romo broke up with her. He’s pretty conservative.
She’s taking the Dixie Chicks gamble...that there are enough and more lib fans to replace the ones in CW she knows she’ll lose. Twisted Sister recording a Christmas album did well with it because of the novelty/absurdity/comedy factor. Same for Pat Boone’s Metal album. Neither was intentionally slapping their base in the face. This is just plain idiotic.
....and pfft he wuz gone ;’)~
He searched the site over and thought he found gay love...He ‘coExisted’ and... ;)
Regarding Post 193 ... She chose wisely...
She’s going to experience what many formerly popular entertainers have. Once upon a time, Ellen and Rosie were if not loved, at least enjoyed for their ‘talents’. There are many examples of suddenly political entertainers who, after taking their stand, find that their fans don’t want to financially support artists whose statements go against their own beliefs.
I am sire I’m not the only dude with a CD player that stopped buying the music of artists that went gay/lib. I’m a big Judas Priest fan. When Rob Halford came out of the closet, my JP album purchases stopped. I simply will not contribute to that which I disagree with.
There are many movies I’ve seen commercials for that I’d love to go see but will not, simply because A: see above and B: I can’t enjoy a movie knowing the above.
Limits my options greatly, but my life does not require movies or funding libs to be complete. Plenty of outlets out there and all of them more enjoyable. Instead of buying all those lib CDs, I took up music from a musician aspect and make my own. Best hobby I ever had.
piss anyone off along the chain of command, and you might as well forget it...
your records will never be played...no matter how good you are...
I know these singers and actors are under pressure to support their vast gay friendly business associates, but the better part of valor would be to just not engage about these topics...
its not like we care what they think anyway...I certainly don't...
She did stand up and at this point feels comfortable with it.Do we get refunds for lies.Nice to hear you took up music.post it on youtube so I can hear when your ready.
Absolutely.
Also consider that most radio stations are owned by a couple companies. And consider that much of the profit today is in getting your music on TV/movies. Traditional sales are not what they used to be.
If a radio conglomerate has an agenda, your song does not get heavy rotation. If a production company has an agenda, you get passed over for an artist whose beliefs mirror there’s...and there are millions to choose from over you. Every bit as talented and without the PR issues your ‘rightness’ brings to their table.
Even the Indie world mirrors the big names in their politics...in fact, moreso.
We are talking to a grown up here:)
It was a figure of speech.
“Hat Tip to Absolutely Nobama”
There’s something you don’t see everyday. Usually it’s “We’ll see how cool you are on the night shift, ‘Absolutely Nobama’” or “I read your blog, ‘Absolutely Nobama’, and I don’t know which is worse, your spelling or your 13-year old like sense of humor.”
Today is already looking up !
:)
Take the wheel and kick her out the car.
I'm calling bs here. A spouse cannot deny you a divorce in any state of the union. If one party refuses to sign, a court date is set and the judge tells the refusing party, "tough titty" and it's over. I've seen this play out time and time again. Almost all refusals are over money, and that's all settled at the same time.
I’m no coward, so I’ll come right out and say this in public. FR is a privately owned website with a well-defined conservative agenda. It’s pro-God, anti-homosexual, pro-America, fiscally and socially conservative site. Period. I freely admit that I don’t share all of the above views being an agnostic, and having many gay and lesbian friends. However, being respectful to the owner, I don’t belabor those points here, anymore than I would have argued with my mother who thought JFK was the greatest president ever and Jackie O’ the most beautiful woman in all of creation. There is a time and place, and this is not the place for all disagreements.
Just friendly advice.
