Famed Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz continued his assault on State Attorney Angela Corey today, challenging her to a debate this morning on a Jacksonville news radio show.
The challenge comes less than a week after Dershowitz’s article was published on Newsmax.com, ripping Corey for threatening to sue the university over his criticism of her actions in charging George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin shooting.
The quarrel began with Dershowitz’s comments on Fox News’ Huckabee, in which he said Corey told “half-truths” to the court when she submitted an affidavit saying that there was a struggle in the shooting without disclosing that Zimmerman had also been injured...

FWIW, he's technically wrong that the affidavit in support of the murder rap must include or refer to the presence of exculpatory evidence.
Not that he's wrong as far as the prosecution being obliged to account for the self defense claim, it does have to account for it both as a matter of ethical prosecution, and also as a matter of not crapping on Florida's self-defense statute, 776.032.
By bringing the case, Corey is asserting that she has reviewed the evidence, all of it, and has concluded that Zimmerman will lose a motion for immunity on 776.032 grounds. By bringing the case, she is saying he's not entitled to immunity. She came to the opposite conclusion that SPD did.
If this broad pisses him off, that’s probably what will happen — I HOPE!!!
Why is she suing Dershowitz? She should charge him with second degree murder with the same evidence she has against Zimmerman.
I can't let that go without pointing out that it was former FBI Director Louis Freeh who leaked Jewell's name to the press.

Who, incidentally, after being forced out as FBI Director for his failures, was selected to head up Penn State's investigation of itself and whose firm was hired by the New Orleans Saint to investigate whether its owner had the 'wire-tapping' equipment in the owner's box.

Yep, she just picked up where Shorstein left off. She is essentially one in the same and is a Dem at heart only changing her party affiliation to run against her boss. She was appointed as an Assistant in the States Attorney’s office in Jacksonville by the previous two Democrat SAs, Ed Austin and Harry Shorstein.
I had quit going to the REC meetings here because they just fawned over her when she first won the election. I thought at the time the popularity was misplaced as I knew her history of going after critics for a long time.
The man who wrongfully identified Jewell to the press was Louis Freeh. After being forced out as head of the FBI in disgrace (the whole Robert Hansen espionage bit was too much, apparently, after Ruby Ridge, TWA 800, Waco, Chinese political contributions, 'where did Vince Foster commit suicide', Wen Ho Lee, Khobar Towers), Mr. Freeh is doing quite well in the private sector.

Good gigs for a guy whose reputation seems to suggest he like to begin with a conclusion and then have his subordinates write the report to support it.

Sadly George Zimmerman will lose more than his reputation if he is acquitted... he could well lose his life to Black radicals who have threatened to kill him. Zimmerman will be a marked man and likely have to go into hiding, change his identity or even seek safe haven overseas.

Why does no one ever discuss how Corey (at her press conference) said the first thing she did was to “pray” with Martin’s parents and their ambulance chasing lawyers. Huh? How is that appropriate in any way to the seeking of impartial justice? Would she pray with the family of a murderer? WTF? Fire her fat ass NOW.

Really? After the SCOTUS ruled against Al Gore & the endless recount, he literally exploded on TV, ranting that all Americans and government offices should now ignore SCOTUS rulings, as it was now clearly issuing unlawful rulings.
Even the liberal interviewer was taken aback & provided an opportunity for him to walk it back, but he doubled down on his rant.

Had Clinton been convicted in the Senate, Algore, fellow Dem, would have become president. That was not a coup.
Both of you gave thoughtful and insightful responses to my post and I appreciate your comments. I had forgotten that it was Louis Freeh that "leaked" all of that information, including Richard Jewell's name.
Scoutmaster, you are absolutely correct when you say that Richard Jewell died young - too young, IMO. He was hounded by the media and stressed beyond belief at that false accusations directed at him by the media. God rest his soul, he didn't deserve what he got.
I have, since '08, stated that our government is irreparably broken and, reading the responses I have gotten to my post about Richard Jewell and about the SCOTUS refusing to hear the POTUS eligibility ('birther') case only re-enforces that belief. A lot of people allowed the media to alter their opinion of J. Edgar Hoover and his personal life after he died. But, during his life and his direction of the FBI, the government was more ethical, more honest and more prone to enforce or comply with the Constitution. I make that statement with the knowledge that the statement is relative, not an objective observation. What we have today at every level of political office is a collection of liars, thieves and cowards who have found the perfect way to make crime pay without fear of punishment, thus my tagline.
IMO, we are past due for a shakeup of all political offices that forces them out of the backrooms, out of the shadows and into the light . . . . . . typically a place that cockroaches despise.
When a citizen of this country (Jewell, Zimmerman) is denied due process under the Constitution and can be tried, convicted and lynched by an out-of-control media, we are in trouble.
