What should the UN do in this situation?
Can we have a poll on wether the UN should be banned, please?
And on wether all its creatures should go in a dungeon?
I can kind of agree that it is a violation of the kid’s rights not to be able to identify its parents, but OTOH, it is a vastly superior alternative to slaughtering them, so it is a neccessary evil...

The same thing the Deep Space probe in Star Trek did:
Admit that it is defective beyond repair, and detonate itself.
can’t these mothers just find a safe and legal place to dismember these children before they are born?
Mass-suicide of all UN bureaucrats would be a nice start.

Agree.
Does not compute.
The U.N. is an abomination.
Then detonate yourself!
The people who want to block the Baby Boxes are evil. There is no better word to describe them.
Nothing. Not a d-mn thing.
re: “children must be able to identify their parents and even if separated from them the state has a “duty to respect the child’s right to maintain personal relations with his or her parent”.
Well doesn’t that eliminate all closed adoptions (where the child does not know who the birth parents are)? What is the alternative? The UN promotes abortion, which “solves” the problem sufficiently for the UN crowd.
And if the children cannot "maintain personal relations" and "identify their parents", what then? Baby hatches are a "violation" so what, kill them before they are born? Is that their solution? Where is the UN going with this reasoning?
As the mom of 3 adopted kids I support baby boxes.
It’s true my kids will never know their birthparents, but in all honesty, that bothers me more than it appears to bother them. They are grown up now, and all I can say is that they are all anti-abortion and pro-adoption.
So I guess they prefer the life they have over the alternative.

Question--it's not a problem for the vast majority to identify their mother, but what about all the kids out there whose paternity is questionable? Is the UN demanding their rights? Just wondering.
