Kermit the Frog established his legacy convincing millions of impressionable youth that "it's not easy being green." Unfortunately for the once famous frog, the Obama Administration has made poor Kermit look like a liar and burst the generational myth apparently, it is a whole lot easier to be green than Kermit would have had us all believe.
In a June 6 hearing to delve into exactly how the Administration comes up with all those green jobs they claim to have saved-or-created, Rep. Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee probed the essential question, "Just what qualifies and gets counted as a green job?"
The exchange occurred between Issa, Bureau of Labor Statistics Acting Commissioner Josh Galvin and Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training Jane Oates at the Addressing Concerns about the Integrity of the U.S. Department of Labors Jobs Reporting hearing Wednesday in Washington:
REP. DARRELL ISSA: Well, let me let me run you through some questions here because youre here because were having a green jobs counting discussion. Does someone who assembles turbines is that a green job?
MS. JANE OATES: Wind turbines?
REP. ISSA: Yeah. Wind turbines.
MS. OATES: I think we would call any kind of sustainable manufacturing
REP. ISSA: OK
. MS. OATES: fitting the definition that was
REP. ISSA: Does someone who sweeps does someone who sweeps the floor in a facility that makes solar panels, is that a green job?
MS. OATES: Solar? Ill give that to
REP. ISSA: To Galvin?
MS. OATES: if you dont mind.
MR. JOHN GALVIN: We define we have a two-part definition
REP. ISSA: We already had the briefing on that. So just answer the question. If youre sweeping the floor in a solar panel production facility, is that a green job?
MR. GALVIN: If you ask me for the number of health care jobs in the United States, Ill give you the employment from the health care industry.
REP. ISSA: Look, Mr. Galvin
MR. GALVIN: nurses and doctors
REP. ISSA: You did not want to come here as a witness. You are not a delighted witness. So lets go through this. I asked you a question. You know the answer. Would you please answer it. If you sweep the floor in a solar panel facility, is that a green job?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
REP. ISSA: Thank you. If you drive a hybrid bus public transportation is that a green job?
MR. GALVIN: According to our definition, yes.
REP. ISSA: Thank you. What if youre a college professor teaching classes about environmental studies?
MR. GALVIN: Yes
. REP. ISSA: What about just any school bus driver?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
REP. ISSA: What about the guy who puts gas in the school bus?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
REP. ISSA: How about employees at a bicycle shop?
MR. GALVIN: I guess Im not sure about that.
REP. ISSA: The answer is yes, according to your definition. And youve got a lot of them. What about a clerk at the bicycle repair shop?
MR. GALVIN: Yes
. REP. ISSA: What about someone who works in an antique dealer?
MR. GALVIN: Im not sure about that either
. REP. ISSA: The answer is yes. Those are those are recycled goods. Theyre antiques; theyre used. What about someone who works at the Salvation Army in their clothing recycling and furniture?
MR. GALVIN: Right. Because theyre selling recycled goods.
REP. ISSA: OK. What about somebody who opened a store to sell rare manuscripts?
MR. GALVIN: What industry is that?
REP. ISSA: People sell rare books and manuscripts but theyre rare because theyre old so theyre used.
MR. GALVIN: OK.
REP. ISSA: What about workers at a consignment shop?
MR. GALVIN: Thats a green job.
REP. ISSA: Does the teenage kid who works full time at a used record shop count?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
REP. ISSA: How about somebody who manufacturers railroads rolling stock basically, train cars?
MR. GALVIN: I dont think we classified the manufacture of rail cars as
REP. ISSA: 48.8 percent of jobs in manufacturing, rail cars counted, according to your statistics. About half of the jobs that are being used to build trains.
OK. How about just one more here. What about people who work in a trash disposal yard? Do garbage men have green jobs?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
REP. ISSA: OK. I apologize. The real last last is, how about an oil lobbyist? Wouldnt an oil lobbyist count as having a green job if they are engaged in advocacy related to environmental issues?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
The left manufactures what they want to pass as truth everyday.
It’s my understanding that approximately 10,000 people retire each month. Their vacated positions are considered new private/public sector jobs. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
So I take it Mr. Galvin’s honesty has rendered him “dead” to the Obama administration?
REP. ISSA: What about the unemployed??? They’re not using gas to get to work. Are those green jobs?
MR. GALVIN: Yes.
REP. ISSA: Does the teenage kid who works full time at a used record shop count?MR. GALVIN: Yes.
"Dude! This IS a green job, I'm doin' my part for the environMENT. Get off my back, you sound like my dad."
Go on Issa.
Government jobs are green since they keep shoveling the same bs at us over and over again.
“Its my understanding that approximately 10,000 people retire each month. Their vacated positions are considered new private/public sector jobs. Pls correct me if I am wrong.”
And if the position doesn’t get filled it is considered a saved job.
This whole green job thing is really Ice 9. Every job somehow ties into every other job. Basically I have a green job because I am working from home so I am saving gasoline. Granted, my industry has nothing to do with green jobs.
I take my trash out on Fridays so I’m a green job(on Fridays)
When I pick up dog poo in the yard on Saturdays, that’s a green job, too!
ArchitectsHell, Everything is a 'Green Job' if you stretch it far enough. (morons!)
Mechanical Engineers
Structural Engineers
Draftsman
Project Managers
Estimators
ALL construction workers - from ditch digger to the illegal Mex hanging drywall.
The people who sweep floors and empty waste baskets in Arch-Engr firms
Developers, like Donald Trump (he's a Green Job Magnate!)
Every time a green salesman solicits me at home, I tell them I have three words for them = green energy sucks. I hear the click in about a tenth of a second.
