(CBS News) CBS News has learned the House Oversight Committee will vote next week on whether to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. It's the fourth time in 30 years that Congress has launched a contempt action against an executive branch member.
This time, the dispute stems from Holder failing to turn over documents subpoenaed on October 12, 2011 in the Fast and Furious "gunwalking" investigation.
The Justice Department has maintained it has cooperated fully with the congressional investigation, turning over tens of thousands of documents and having Holder testify to Congress on the topic at least eight times.
However, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., says the Justice Department has refused to turn over tens of thousands of pages of documents. Those include materials created after Feb. 4, 2011, when the Justice Department wrote a letter to Congress saying no gunwalking had occurred. The Justice Department later retracted the denial.
"The Obama Administration has not asserted Executive Privilege or any other valid privilege over these materials and it is unacceptable that the Department of Justice refuses to produce them. These documents pertain to Operation Fast and Furious, the claims of whistleblowers, and why it took the Department nearly a year to retract false denials of reckless tactics," Issa wrote in an announcement of the vote to be released shortly. It will reveal the vote is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20.

Even the PC suck-ups at the Washington Post will have to start looking at this...
You have to look at things in the broader perspective...Holder is a political appointment of Obama. Pressure will mount on Obama to discard Holder, but he won’t be able to because he knows where all the skeletons are buried including intimidation of judges ruling in his eligibility cases.
Thus Obama will lose support of Hispanics in the November elections and will be shown to be more deceitful and dishonest than Tricky Dick Nixon and thereby lose the election.
Holder and Obama will both be dealt with after the change of administrations in Jan 2013. Don’t think Holder can seek shelter in Mexico from the long arm of the law.
Boehner has been telling Issa not to do this, doing his best to head it off.
If they hold a vote, it will still just be the Oversight Committee. But Boner will find it a lot more difficult to PUBLICLY block it, and retain his position in the next congress.
I’m hoping that since Issa is now going ahead with it, he has some real hopes that it will pass both the committee and the House.
Probably be shot down in the Senate, but it will be hard for the media to continue to ignore this vicious and criminal scandal, which has resulted in numerous murders.
The truth is, this investigation leads directly to the last President Bush and his AG Mulkasey. The problem is, Holder worked for George Bush before he was chosen to be AG in the Obama administration — conflict of interest anybody?
I think you meant president clinton and AG Reno.

PREDICTION:
The vote in committee will never happen. Hours before the scheduled vote, DOJ will release a portion of that which is subpoenaed. Some RINOs will want to delay it since DOJ is showing co-operation, and hence there will not be enough votes. Issa will pull it back. DOJ will only release a minimal amount, and it comes to a head after the election.
I truly hope I’m wrong on this.

You've been slipped a load of Liberal media koolaid. If you're interested in the facts they are as follows:
Holder NEVER served under Bush. Holder became AG 2/3/09 (Obama). He had previously been Deputy AG under Clinton from 6/13/97-1/20/01. In the time in between he worked for the law firm who specialized in representing GITMO Terrorists.
Under Bush the predecessor of "Fast and Furious" actually 1) tried to track and intercept the guns 2) informed the US and Mexican agents in Mexico for their assistance in that tracking 3) did intercept guns before they were used in crimes and 4) was ended after a few hundred guns were sold because some slipped through those safeguards.
In contrast "Fast and Furious" 1) never even attempted to track ANY of those guns 2) kept US and Mexican agents in Mexico totally in the dark 3) never intercepted a single gun before it was used in a crime and 4) kept going even as hundreds upon hundreds of those guns were recovered in drug murder after drug murder AND WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED EVEN AFTER BORDER PATROL AGENT TERRY WAS MURDERED IF ATF WHISTLEBLOWERS DID NOT ACT!
Addition to your list — he also worked for George Bush — check it out.
BS!
Holder briefly served as Acting Attorney General under the George W. Bush Administration — that is a fact.
Your comments regarding Clinton Administration are correct, but that does not change the fact that Holder became Acting Attorney General under the George W. Bush Administration.
Sounds like one of them high-tech lynchings we’ve been hearing so much about . . . /sarc
I've checked hundreds of sources on Eric Holder and none of them support what you're saying . See google "Eric Holder biography." He working for "Covington & Burling" law firm during the entire Bush Presidency.
"He working for" = "He worked for"
Holder remained in his postion for approximately 2 weeks after Bush was sworn in, simply because the Dems threw a hissy fit and made Ashcroft’s confirmation quite an ordeal.

You need to go back and read Post #60. If that post is the truth, this is a completely Republican deal and they can put Holder in jail and out of reach of the President. The problem here is that Boehner is devoid of anything hanging between his legs other than a “soiled” Depends!
Hopefully he’s coming aroud:
Rep. Darrell E. Issa, California Republican and chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said his panel will take up the contempt issue next week, and the move has the blessing of House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.
The Justice Department is out of excuses, Mr. Boehner said in a statement Monday morning. Either the Justice Department turns over the information requested, or Congress will have no choice but to move forward with holding the Attorney General in contempt for obstructing an ongoing investigation.

So what? I'd rather have it out regardless. But it's ridiculous to think the Senate would dump him. Thus he breaks the law, as does the current _resident, with with impunity and immunity.
Or, you may ask congresswoman from Texas, Sheilah Jackson-Lee.

Amen!
