Authorities are investigating a series of traffic collisions in the San Gabriel Valley involving U.S. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson, authorities said Saturday.
Bryson was found unconscious in his vehicle and has been hospitalized, officials said.
Bryson was driving a Lexus in the 400 block of South San Gabriel Boulevard shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, when he allegedly rear-ended a Buick as it was waiting for a train to pass, according to a statement released by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and the San Gabriel Police Department.
After briefly stopping to talk to the three men inside the Buick, Bryson left the location in the Lexus and then struck the Buick a second time, authorities said. The men followed Bryson's car and called 911 to ask for police assistance.
Bryson continued to drive his Lexus into Rosemead, which is patrolled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. There, he allegedly crashed into a second vehicle near the intersection of San Gabriel Boulevard and Hellman Avenue.
There authorities found him alone and unconscious behind the wheel of his car.
Bryson was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County firefighters. Authorities said drugs or alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the crash. They said Bryson was cooperative. He was cited for felony hit and run but was not booked into jail because he had been admitted to the hospital. His condition was not known.
According to his official biography, Bryson was chairman of Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison for 18 years until 2008.
"Throughout a distinguished career in which he's led nonprofits, government agencies and large companies, he's been a fierce proponent of alternative energy," President Obama said in announcing Bryson's nomination last year.

Likely some kind of drug medication involved. Could have been something like a low sugar level even.

Didn’t think of that. Sounds probable.

Well at least hes not into venture capital or private equity.
Idle hands are the Devil's playground including Demon Rum.
Maybe he’ll roll out the Twinkie Defense.
Why are Dem Commerce Secretaries so odd ? Wasn’t Clinton’s killed in a small plane crash after soliciting bribes from corporations to accompany him on trade missions ?
Maybe this is the Obama version of Arkanside for underlings who know too much. Drug or poison him and expect him to die in a car crash.
If I were the doctors, I would check for Earwigs...
I expect him to blame it on the problems he inherited from the Bush administration.
I would say you’re probably right on with your assessment. They are quick to say it’s not drugs or alcohol suspected, so that makes me think there was something they could clearly tell was physiologically based. Maybe even perhaps some kind of a stroke or seizure? Like you said though - low blood sugar/insulin overdose, etc.. could be a possibility as well.
It will be interesting to hear what the *official* story is.
weird.....it’s hitting the same buick trice that doesn’t compute to a medical problem.
Clinton transferred the regulatory control of our top secret defense technologies to Commerce after he put buddy Ron in charge and then Ron allowed our most advanced and sensitive secrets, like missile guidance systems and the miniaturization of nuclear warheads to be sold to the Red Chinese—while at the same time HUGE campaign contributions from China were flowing in Clinton's campaign coffers.
He did die in a plane crash in the Balkans just in time to miss his subpoenaed appearance before the Oversight Committees—some said his body was found in the wreckage with a large bullet hole in the top of his skull.
Hard to believe but the current White House makes THAT crooked administration look like a home for over virtuous nuns.
A high level govt official manages not to get tested for booze after multiple hit and run accidents? Yeah I buy it.
Maybe the security leaks are coming from him and Obama had to get rid of him like Ron Brown.
Bryson was just following his radical Socialist calling and redistributing his Lexus to the occupants of the lowly Buick.
BTW, look up Bryson. He is an extreme leftist scumbag with ties to Bill Ayers, Van Jones, et al. He’s an ultra-envirokook who wants to get rid of ALL carbon based energy sources (at least those that don’t power his Lexus, I guess).
Well, I’m sure they’ll release the 911 tapes made by the people in the Buick - or at least that SHOULD be standard protocol. The people in the buick spoke to him for a few minutes, and if anything they should have been able to detect if he was drunk. If he has a known medical condition or an emergency ID bracelet perhaps that pointed to exactly what was wrong with the guy.
They’ll have plenty of blood to test at the hospital, that’s for sure. If the guy was unconscious as they stated when they found him, then their first instinct probably was not to do a field sobriety or breathalyzer test.
Could the Ministry of Truth media name which "authority" told them that or did they just make it up? Since the word Republican isn't in the title or every 5th word, and the word Democrat appears nowhere, that means he's a Democrat.
I’m thinking since he hit the car the first time from behind while waiting for a train, perhaps he hit them again from behind at a different stop sign - or perhaps hit their car trying to go around theirs after the train passed.
I’m not trying to defend the guy - just trying to think of possibilities because it is extremely strange. At least he’s been charged with a Felony. That SHOULD end his career pretty quickly.
*Conspiracy Note* - Maybe it IS a *medical problem*, but not his... :) LOL Obamacare IS a matter of commerce (acc. to the Dems), perhaps getting rid of Bryson is one of those *contingencies* they were talking about if SCOTUS knocks it down?
