The Christys, of McAdoo, Pa., pleaded guilty in January to making harassing phone calls to Palin's attorneys. Attorney John Tiemessen testified that the men's calls threatened Palin and attorneys. Both Christys apologized Friday for their actions.

In Friday's sentencing, U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Burgess ordered Shawn Christy to spend up to six months at the Scranton residential facility, where a bed will become available in mid-July. Christy wanted to return to his parent's home, where he had been living until his arrest last year.
"Why can't I go home now?" he said.
"Because I'm not letting you go home," Burgess said, prompting Christy to ask what was the judge's reason for imposing the order.
"It has to do with consequences," Burgess said. "It's part of the consequences for your behavior.

"I understand my behavior, and I understand this is ridiculous," Christy said. A short time letter, Burgess called for a short recess after blurts from Christy.
Burgess ultimately said Christy could stay with his parents at their McAdoo home until a bed at the residential facility becomes available.
After the sentencing was completed, Tiemessen said Christy's behavior in court was consistent with what he and others had witnessed in the past two years, including hundreds of calls from the Christys to his law firm's offices in Fairbanks and Anchorage.
"I've seen dozens and dozens of such little outbursts and worst," Tiemessen. "It just the first one Judge Burgess has seen."

In a letter submitted to Lack with last week’s filing, Craig Christy also notes Palin’s recent purchase of a part-time home in Scottsdale, Ariz. He says he wants Palin to release the address so a support group called “Stand Strong Shawn Christy” will “not violate any protective order if we are protesting or campaigning in Scottsdale, AZ.”
Craig Christy also alleges a conflict of interest by the magistrate, saying Lack is a former staffer of late former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens and that Palin “photographed multiple times” with him during her political career.
Palin and a friend, Kristan Cole, originally obtained restraining orders against Shawn Christy last year, stating in court documents that he threatened them, said he was buying a one-way ticket to Alaska and sent a receipt for a gun purchase.
Palin also has said she feared Christy’s parents because they believe she and the teen traded sexual messages two years ago.

According to Ms. Christy, the root of this fiasco is none other than Willow Palin, Sarah Palin’s second eldest daughter, who made headlines of her own for writing a slur-laden Facebook rant.

In 2009, she says, her son began receiving text messages and phone calls from “who we believe is” Willow Palin. She says that Sarah Palin would also send him texts from time to time, and that some of these texts were sexually explicit in nature. However, Karen maintains that she does not know exactly what these alleged text messages said.
Karen says that the restraining orders placed by Palin’s people resulted in her husband losing two jobs. The family found themselves strapped for cash and frustrated at not being able to “communicate with legal officials involved with the restraining orders,” so Shawn flew to Alaska to “do some law research.” This is the trip Palin referred to in her testimony.

"Well, let's make it more rediculous for you then. I find you in contempt and sentence you to twelve more months at the detention facility, to run squestnially after your first sentence."

Only because the prosecution had them dead to rights and they were hoping the court would ameliorate their sentences. If it hadn’t been for that, they would have bragged about it to everyone they met.
Lost two jobs, yet they had money for plane ticket to Alaska and huge phone bills. Huh? Who paid for that? Doesn’t anybody ask follow-up questions?
