The Obama campaign wants to make the 2012 contest a choice between its candidate and the Republican party; the Romney campaign wants to make the vote a referendum on Barack Obama. Mitt Romney is laying low, letting the election revolve around Obama--and winning. While his campaign pushes back against Obama and the mainstream media, Romney is shaking hands on the trail--and winning support in key swing states.
At the outset, Romneys path to victory seemed a narrow one. It was universally agreed that the 2012 contest would be fought in roughly ten swing states. But Obamas weak economic performance, and Romneys quietly effective campaign, has narrowed the field of play. It is now reasonable to imagine that Romney will win in North Carolina and Florida--two states that Obama won in 2008 and that he will likely lose this time around.

Nope. They think Obama and Romney were separated at birth.
I’m not going to supply a list of freepers, just go to those massively long threads where we were fighting them tooth and nail.
Any freeper who isn’t aware of the intense Romney wars, even zot threads here at FR just isn’t paying attention.
It’s beyond frustrating. I think they’re trolls or extremely naive with no ability to discern.
When we first met, she was shocked I did not know there was this split in the "Hispanic" community. All I knew was that Spanish women were smoking hot and the food was pretty good. I was in trouble for a long month.
The Romney flame wars consist of people resigned to Voting against Obama with the choice they have been given and the others who think they will teach the mealy mouthed Republicans a lesson. All that will do is get us a 6-3 SCOTUS that will eviscerate what's left of our God given Constitutional Rights.
That's how I see it and you disagree, so be it.
Well said.
I don’t know what you are talking about, the primary was only just decided, the intense Romney wars of which JR has been a part of have been going on for 6 years.
You must have slept through the primaries and the last 6 years before the primary was settled 7 or 8 weeks ago.
Freerepublic was officially anti-Romney, the truce is recent, for you to have not noticed that anyone here was voting for Romney in the primaries is a little hard to believe.
Get over it, Diogensis and TauFood!
Romney’s not our optimal candidate, but just think about this for a while:
-”The Obama campaign knows that one of the reasons President Obama won in 2008 was that from 2004 to 2008 between 3 million and 4 million Republicans decided to stay home and did not vote. As Obama won several states by razor-thin margins and as his campaign knows he is suffering from an “enthusiasm gap” from some of his previous supporters, they are going to need to suppress the Romney vote in 2012.”
Are you guys going to sit out in protest and let an even worse 4 years happen upon us from 2013-2016??
The good thing is that we won’t have 3-4 million Repubs on the sidelines this time because their disgust in Obama is so strong.
Either you two are schills for Obama posting here, or you’re going to throw away another election into the trash heap of history.
If you don’t understand that not voting “out of protest against Mittens” is a VOTE FOR OBAMA, then you need to get your head checked.
We MUST first get rid of Bork Obunga.
Then challenge Romney in 2016.
The nation had drifted so far to the left that you are naive optimists to think we can get the ultimate conservative candidate elected at this juncture in history.
The electorate just isn’t ready for true conservatism, so we’ve got to do it gradually. If that means a RINO first rather than a Fascist Socialist, why be a perfectionist about it? Once Romney’s in, we can hold his feet to the fire and then dump him in 2016.
I'm pro Gingrich, but that's water under the bridge. Newt is out and Romney is in. Not my choice, but I will not give Obama the satisfaction of wasting my Vote to defeat him on a Third Party or Write In Candidate with no chance of success.
I'm not trying to change your mind. Your Vote, your decision. We will all live with the outcome in November as will our Children and Grandchildren.
The Mitt Waffle House. A surprise dish every day of the week.
FUBO!!!
I cannot and will not vote for a pro-abortion, pro-gay candidate from either party.
You found an ally.
AlanGreenSpam is one of those old Romney trolls, go back into years of his posts and you will see the Romney fandom and the anti-Palin posts.
So why did the GOP bother to persist in letting Iowa and New Hampshire lead off the primaries?
Florida, Ohio, and other states deserve to be farther up the chain. At least they are in play to swing Republican.
I am sorely disappointed learning that. We agree on things, we disagree on things. That is the nature of Free Republic.
On that note, I am done for the evening. Goodnight all.
