PROVIDENCE, R.I. Throughout this years three-day Netroots Nations conference as progressive activists have cheered on Elizabeth Warren, held Occupy-style general assemblies and attended seminars on topics ranging from voter ID laws to Love, Compassion and Outrageous Forms of Activism present just below the surface of the discussion has been an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with President Obama.
A series of liberal favorites, culminating with former Obama environmental adviser Van Jones, took to the stage at the Rhode Island Convention Center to rally the Democratic base and also to make clear that nearly four years after his election, Obama has not lived up to their expectations.
He stands up for Trayvon; he stands up for gay marriage; we like him, Jones said of Obama in the keynote speech of the evening. But were not in love with him.

My heart bleeds for them/not!
Poor little Leninists just not getting their way. Jones needs a one-way ticket to Havana where he can get all the communism he can handle....but not here.
The hype never lives up to reality. Obama is now the Ron Powlus of Presidents even though Wolf Blitzer still cheers him on like Beano Cook.
I just don’t get liberal thinking.
Even a communist still needs to get re-elected Mr Jones.
I’m sure if zero gets a second term his real base will be a whole lot happier since the gloves will be off. Besides, who knows...maybe Jones is just trying to give Obama the illusion of distance to help his candidate get where they both want to go..
Thank God the commies picked such a loser as their Annointed One.
Imagine how much worse it could have been! Their choice of a narcissistic, dope-smokin’ loser gave Americans the last-second chance to wake up and see the mistake they made in electing him.
I feel a little more confident about November right about now.
Wow...One “little election”, and the wheels ALL seem to be coming off!!
People said that the WI election would have “repercussions” FAR beyond WI—and into the main election in November. I guess they were right—probably more than they could have even IMAGINED!!
It has been a fun week...for conservatives...
the commies are shellshocked about wisconsin, with madison being one of the centers for commies. They are in deep depression and licking on each other. The walker lead was 11 points and was reduced to 7 with late “counting” commie districts. If the margin had been around 4, the commies could have stolen it, but it was too great. The commie that slapped the commie was upset about conceding, since all the “votes” were not in. The commies are hurtin’ for certain!
This is what passes for thinking out there. And not a peep of deserved ridicule from the politically corrected MSM.
And whom will be the Democrat/Criminal enterprise nominee?
Lemme guess - they brought in a fake Native American to poop on a police car?
And why did the leftist Hussein fire him? That's right. He's a TOTAL nutball.
Standard Democrat playbook.
They need to make Obama seem like a moderate so that independents still be willing to vote for him. Judging by some of the replies here, it seems to work.
Van Jones is willingly playing “bad cop”, like so many Obama
surrogates have done for 3 1/2 years, to Obama’s “good cop”.
It’s all done with a wink and a nod to Obama, and is not meant to be taken seriously by “diehard” Obama supporters. Van Jones is obviously angling for a new position in a 2nd Obama presidential term, since he lost his footing in the first one
by being too loud and creating too much negative feedback for Obama. In a second term, yes, the gloves would be off, and Jones would be rewarded in some way, through an appointment or special connections setting him up in some bogus “organization”.This whole strategy of “distancing” as you call it is utterly transparent, and has also been practiced by would-be Muslim political players, like Imam Rauf, who was the highly visible but now invisible force behind the Ground Zero Mosque enterprise. All three of these guys have played their best hand, went all in too soon, and they will soon be consigned to the sour ash-heap of American History.
Yeah, and I think it was none other than Ward Churchill!
Hey, Van Jones, he’s just not that into you, either.
Get over it.
Unlike the rest of the country, at least liberals are getting an occasional reach-around.
It is the problem in communism, when ousted, i.e. Mr. Jones, Obama isn’t communist enough.
Time to bad mouth the poser.
