Pennsylvania voters favor President Barack Obama over Republican rival Mitt Romney by a 12-point margin, 48 percent to 36 percent, a June poll by Franklin & Marshall College shows.

According to the poll, Obama is viewed favorably by 46 percent of voters to 27 percent for Romney.

The poll is based on interviews with 412 state voters conducted by the Center for Opinion Research at the Lancaster college and has a margin of error of 4.8 percentage points.

Among other findings in the poll:

Almost six in 10 voters believe the state is moving in the wrong direction.

Incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. leads Republican challenger Tom Smith, 42 percent to 21 percent.

Obama is seen as better able to handle foreign-policy issues, 57 percent to 29 percent; understands the concerns of ordinary Americans, 57 percent to 31 percent and handle the job as military chief, 51 percent to 33 percent; and is closest to your views on abortion and gay marriage, 47 percent to 37 percent; and prepared to fix our economic problems, 44 percent to 38 percent.

Small percentages of voters favor Gov. Tom Corbett’s proposed spending cuts on human-service programs (16 percent), spending cuts to local school districts (20 percent), the state’s recreation, park and conservation funds (21 percent), and higher education (24 percent).

47 percent of voters say state deficits should be balanced using a combination of tax increases and spending cuts.

I'd be willing to bet that 90% of that 47% doesn't pay much, if anything, in taxes. Easy position to take when it comes out of the other guy's pocket.

Poll all you want! The Dems aren't showing up this year like they did in 08! Look at all the bogus polls out of Wisconsin the last few days. Rasmussen likely voters is the only poll to watch. The rest are nonsense. Margin of error 4.8%. Useless.

And the Walker recall vote was getting tight, according to the polls,,,until last night’s results came rolling in.

Actually, many voters can’t be polled because they only have cell phones and block ads and polls. The results in November will again be “unexpected.”

The poll finds that Corbett and other Republicans weren’t even elected. No one here but Democrats.

412 voters? And, this poll is being published??? Why?

Sounds like a poll that a high school sophomore might develop for a class assignment.

Keep this in mind: Pennsylvania is 52% Catholic. When the push back gets going all of this will be a distant memory.

RE: Keep this in mind: Pennsylvania is 52% Catholic.

But how devout are most of them? I’ve had enough of the Nancy Pelosi-Joe Biden type Catholics.

If these are the sort of Catholics that are voting in Pennsylvania, I don’t think Romney has a prayer.
