Frustrated union and Democratic Party leaders from Madison,Wisconsin, to Washington,D.C., while wiping the Badger State recall election bloodbath from their shoes, are bombarding the nation with excuses, mitigating circumstances, and outright denial of their own declining reality.
A leading excuse emanating from Democrats everywhere, not least from the Wisconsin Democratic Party which is still stinging from President Barack Obama's refusal to campaign for their man, is that the campaign of the past and future governor, Scott Walker, substantially outraised and outspent his Democrat challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
It is true that Walker received more financial support, including from outside the state, than Barrett did. But the lesson to learn is not the truism that money can impact elections; it is that Republicans, conservatives, capitalists, and perhaps even a few libertarians were willing and able to match, and then outmatch the famously deep pockets of Big Labor. Republicans were every bit the equal of Democrats in grassroots organizing, in passion for their candidate, and in influencing independent voters without whom the margin of victory would not have been possible.
.....Despite the brave words of Jay Carney and his Oompa Loompas in the low-ratings arm of the news media, this election portends grave danger for Barack Obama's reelection. Beyond prying open the wallets of pro-liberty activists, Democrats and their supporters made a historic strategic error in forcing this recall.
By doing so, they forced the RepublicanParty, which in 2008 nominated as their presidential candidate a man who admitted publicly that he was computer-illiterate while Obama bombarded us on Facebook and with text messages, into the 21st century. With improved organizing, data acquisition and management, and get-out-the-vote efforts, all of which were substantial tactical advantages for the Obama campaign nearly four years ago, the recall hand grenade has exploded in Democrats' hands....

Wellllll, it’s time for the dimocraps to start another recall campaign against Governor Walker. They can keep rearranging the deck chairs until the cows come home. After all, why would the unions want to do any real work when they can continue to create turbulence throughout the state.
I live in an area that has a huge democrat population, but the new registered voters that I saw yesterday, while voting, encouraged me greatly.

Walker DID raise more out-of-State money than Barrett. However, he raised more IN-STATE money than Barrett’s in-State and out-of-State combined. This was referendum on Obama, Marxism, the Union Thugs, the Government Welfare Cheats, and Liberalism in General, and Wisconsin flipped them the collective bird.
The main Democrat excuse is that Wisconsin voters do not like to recall elected officials except for malfeasance in office.
I guess it is ok for the Democrats to continue in la-la land and ignore the real reasons why they lost.
Namely, the majority of voters have had enough of big government spending on lazy government workers of all kinds.
It will be interesting to see if other states follow suit, although I suspect that Walker’s courage is rare amongst his peers.

Once again liberals are let down by Obama’s failure to act like a leader.
Any union that gives money to Obama after this debacle is insane.
Does the spending amount being compared contain the initial cost of the recall effort itself? I mean the petitioning effort to make it occur in the first place. After all, that was a focused anti-Walker event from start to finish and rightfully it should count. ALL the money spent, money to bus in 10’2 of thousands of union goons for each rally, money spent to pay canvassers to write in Mickey Mouse on recall petitions. Are they counting that?

...the AFL-CIO wrote on Twitter that “Win or lose, Scott Walker has joined ignominious company in suffering the humiliation of a recall election. 3rd ever.”
...akin to celebrating that the other guy scraped his knuckles while pounding the hell out of you.
Dems have had to toned down that line of attack against their Republican opponents because they know it is a loser with a majority of the voters.

There is a big element of this in the Paul supporters on the republican side. While Paul’s stance on some things (like, say, Iranian nukes) is seen as crazy by many (put me in that category), we as conservatives really have a lot of common ground with his stances, and it is because of his spending and fiscal responsibility stances that many of his young supporters are with him. Smart young people realize they are the ones who will be left holding the bag when the vote-buying deficit-spending merry go round stops, and they want to limit the damage. Paul’s approach in this area makes sense to them, and I have to agree. He has been the only guy preaching fiscal sanity consistently for a long time.
I don’t know about the cost to unions but I believe...correct me if I’m wrong...the state of Wisconsin paid dearly for the cost of running another election.
I didn’t see this asked in exit polls, but it had to grate on people who voted for Walker that as he and they struggle to climb out of their fiscal deep pit, these bozos keep forcing more expenditures on election after election.
All I can think of is the waste of state funds all these recalls have produced and for very little change. Once they regain control of the Senate, the GOP should try to change the laws to make recalls more difficult and to pass a measure that requires the Democrats to repay the state for all the money wasted in this sloppy process.
If these thugs think they can bleed state coffers without consequence they’ll just be back at it again the next time.
And they paid through the nose ($520K+)to carry out a recount after the AP and one precinct count were in conflict after the Wisconsin Supreme Court election (of course the official count was correct but the unions wanted a state-wide recount) that would keep the court majority conservative.

It's the democrat playbook -- ball your opponent up in litigation, recounts, recalls -- bleed them financially, physically and emotionally (which has the "added benefit" of keeping people from stepping forward to run).
