ASHINGTON Authorities are investigating whether Mitt Romneys private email account was hacked.
On Tuesday, the website Gawker reported that an anonymous hacker had signed into Romneys personal Hotmail account.
Gawker reported that the hacker guessed the answer to a security question about Romneys favorite pet in order to gain access to the account and change the password. The anonymous hacker told the website that Romneys account on DropBox, a file sharing service, also was compromised.

The work of another gay Private?
Stupid pick for a security question for someone with so much information out there about him. He should have picked something no one but him ever heard or knew, or added numbers or something. Not smart, Mitt.
One I use is the unusual name of a girlfriend from years ago.
Mulva? No, wait . . . Dolores!
That’s how Palin got hacked too.
It seems obvious that if you give real answers to the security questions, they can be researched. Mom’s middle name, favorite pet, where born, are all stupid things to answer in the clear.
So, “First Grade Teacher? ....Margaret Thatcher!!

Oh that one is easy...
We all know it...
Seamus...
Thanks driftdiver.
This may show us if Romney is dumb....or dumb like a fox. Won’t take much time to tell.
Favorite pet: OBAMA
after all......you are what you eat!
Not sure how my email was hacked, but found out when I was informed I was logged on to two computers at the same time. Next thing I know, my account was disabled for spamming! New password cleared it up.
Every time I see sites asking those security questions then all I can say is good Grief. The questions and answers are much more of a security risk than not having them at all. The odds of guessing them are far greater than the odds of guessing a password.
There’s no need to answer those questions truthfully, you just need to provide a matching answer. So if the answer is the same random character string no matter what the question that is effectively the password to your password.
Never give accurate info where it can be avoided. Lie to all surveys. Trade grocery cards. Trash the data.
I this is true and embarrassing private information was kept in those insecure E-mail accounts then Romeny is not qualified to be commander in chief.
Such woeful ignorance concerning basic cyber security is unforgivable in a potential president and points to a dangerous lack of vision and understanding concerning our single number one security threat going forward.
Of course all those news organizations which condemned Rupert Murdoch’s companys for using information from hacked cell phone messages; will all be more than willing to publish whatever damaging material is revealed.
If this proves true Romeny really is the dufus we feared all along.
“One I use is the unusual name of a girlfriend from years ago.”
Personal “Hotmail” account??? LOL
Too funny...
Evidently, sources report, the password was easily guessable ‘magiqueundies’.
