Its becoming increasingly clear why Attorney General Eric Holder is so reluctant to hand over subpoenaed documents to Congressional investigators. Today, House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) wrote Holder to discuss some wiretaps related to Operation Fast and Furious, the deadly Obama Administration program that put American guns into the hands of Mexican cartel killers.
Holder has always maintained that he and his top deputies were unaware of the outrageous methods employed in Fast and Furious, which involved walking American guns across the border, ostensibly to trap cartel bigwigs with firearms charges. No serious effort was made to track the guns. They have a distressing tendency to turn up in close proximity to dead Mexican and American citizens, with hundreds of them still unaccounted for.
In a May 15, 2012 letter, Issa reminded Holder, the Deputy Attorney General reiterated the Departments position that the inappropriate tactics used in Fast and Furious were not initiated or authorized by Department leadership in Washington. We now know that statement is false.
Issa knows this because his committee has obtained copies of six wiretap applications in support of seven wire intercepts utilized during Fast and Furious. These applications are sealed from public view by judicial order, but Issas committee has reviewed them, and found they show immense detail about questionable investigative tactics was available to the senior officials who reviewed and authorized them.

Chaffetz: Boehner will be embarrassed by Holders stonewalling
Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz said Tuesday that he thinks House Speaker John Boehner will be sufficiently embarrassed by Attorney General Eric Holders continued stonewalling of congressional investigators on the Operation Fast and Furious scandal. Holder has now missed a Memorial Day deadline to provide documents to Congress.
In an abundance of caution, Speaker Boehner [and] Eric Cantor, our leader, sent a letter to the White House and Attorney General Holder asking them to answer some very basic questions thats been nearly a month, Chaffetz told the Fox News Channels Bill Hemmer when asked Tuesday about what happened to that deadline. I think the speaker is probably going to be sufficiently embarrassed by the fact that the attorney general is also blowing him off as they did with the subpoena that was issued in October. I find it totally an embarrassment, I find it totally wrong that the attorney general would just ignore a subpoena.
You cant do that in this country and get away with it, Chaffetz added.
House oversight committee chairman Darrell Issa had given Holder until Memorial Day to comply with his Fast and Furious subpoena. Although Issa served Holder that subpoena last October, Holder has demonstrably failed to comply with all 22 parts of it. With 13 of the subpoena categories, Holder has provided no documents and with the other nine Holder remains far from compliant.
I talked to Chairman Issa who as you know is a patient man but even his patience has limits, South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy said of that deadline in late April. Before Memorial Day, Eric Holder will either comply or he will suffer consequences and when I say consequences I mean contempt of Congress.
The threat of a contempt of Congress vote against Holder continues to loom. Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy officially joined the fight in May. Its unclear what, if anything, came of that letter from House GOP leaders demanding that Holder and his Department of Justice stop stonewalling the congressional investigation.

Without Sandy Adams This Time, Another Call to Hold Eric Holder in Contempt
A resolution calling for the House to hold U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt has garnered the signatures of 118 House members.
But Rep. Sandy Adams, one of Holder’s leading critics, has not signed on. Instead, the Orlando Republican is going her own way.
“The congresswoman reads every bill before co-sponsoring and she had concerns about the language of the personal references in the resolution,” Adams’ spokeswoman Lisa Boothe told Sunshine State News on Monday.
Boothe did not specify Adams’ concerns, but said the freshman lawmaker “has been a leader on the issue, calling for [Holder’s] resignation and, most recently, sending a letter with her fellow freshmen to leadership recommending that the House begin contempt of Congress hearings.”
Issa: Wiretaps show ‘immense detail’ about questionable Fast & Furious tactics
A House investigative committee said Tuesday it has obtained new information from wiretaps related to the Obama administrations Operation Fast and Furious that suggests high-ranking officials know more than they are telling Congress about the flawed weapons sting.
The announcement appears to be the latest attempt by GOP Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, to press U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder into providing Congress with more information about the operation and an account of which officials knew about any problems — and when.
The wiretap applications show that immense detail about questionable investigative tactics was available to the senior officials who reviewed and authorized them, Issa said in a June 5 letter to Holder. The close involvement of these officials — much greater than previously known — is shocking.
God forbid the Republi-Tards actually did something which in any way, would be detrimental or even embarrassing to Dear Leader or the Rats....especially in an election year.
This Wuss, Girly-Guy has GOT TO GO!!!
“These applications are sealed from public view by judicial order”
Why? And by whose authority?
Bunch of f-ing crooks.
Bring in the prison buses and start filling them.
You off of “review” status yet?
Yes, finally.
Darn! Where are Woodward and Bernstein when you really need them? Oh, wait. This is a Democrat administration. They wouldn’t investigate them.
Where are the reporters from Univision, Telemundo, TV Azteca ... why aren’t they all over this?
"This is just the latest example of Adams seeming to care more about theatrics than results," said the activist, speaking on condition of anonymity.
I hope not, she was a leader before.
My own two Sinators, Kyl and McCain, have been quite passive on this subject, even though much of it took place in their back yard.
Hundreds of inocent mexicans were killed because of the Fast and Furious fiasco. Where’s the Hispanic backlash to that. Obama and Hillary stuck their big mouths into this when they kept spouting we are WORKING ON GUN CONTROL UNDER THE RADAR. That is going to come back to bite them in the rear.
Let’s call it GUN SMUGGLING. Gun walking sounds too benign.
Wake me when those documents indicate the Department of State.
