“Most of the adults were handcuffed, then were told what was going on and were asked for permission to search the car,” Fania said. “They all granted permission, and once nothing was found in their cars, they were un-handcuffed.”

If nobody files a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the victims by tomorrow morning, that means our country is already finished.

“Police said they had received what they called a “reliable” tip...”

And the ‘Tip’ quite likely came from one of the bank robbers, or a friend thereof, that gave them time to get away.

We didn’t have a description, didn’t know race or gender or anything

The very antithesis of "probable cause".

Baa, baaa, baaaaaaa!

Not one wolf (or even ill-tempered sheep) in the entire flock.

They didn’t have a description. Didn’t have sex, race, age. Didn’t know the vehicle. Still had a “virtual certainty.” What’s that? RFID chip? Then why can’t they pinpoint the car? Why did they bottle up the robber with a bunch of potential hostages?

They showed some confiscated guns. They didn’t show any recovered money. They didn’t name a suspect. And still they say they caught the robber.

I do believe I’d entertain myself with requiring a warrant to search my car, and then a lawsuit for false arrest.

I'm guessing that it was ordered by Holder's FBI.

So if you demanded than they provide as earch warrant I would have to wonder what “evidence” they would have “found”. Also would they have arrested you on the charge of “interfereing with a police investigation”...

This would pretty much depend on how ‘reliable’ this tip was in order to stop all those cars. If it was an eyewitness that would be enough, but an eyewitness should be able to provide SOME physical script of the perp. Weird scenario.

Aurora is a suberb of Denver, which is a liberal bastion second only to the People’s Republic of Boulder as a place where illogic and idiocy abound.

Thankfully, the rest of the state is quite sane and - of course - that’s where folks actually do real work and produce things.

Sounds like those recent cases where someone calls in fake calls which end up with swat teams arriving at your door.

Welcome to the USSA police state.

I visited the Statue of Liberty last year and couldn’t believe the way we were treated at security. This was AFTER the first round of security at Ellis Island. Unbelievable.

Never consent to a search. NEVER. Learn phrases like: “Am Under arrest?” “Am I free to go?” “Do you have any reasonable suspicion or probably cause?”

In this situation, it is proper to “detain” people for 20-30 minutes. No cuffs, and if anyone flees that may be probably cause for arrest.

No searches without a warrant.

Take snapshots of a couple dozen people and text them to the bank witnesses for ID. That shouldn’t take 20 minutes.
