Neal Boortz to end daily radio show
WSB Radio ^ | 6-4-12 | WSB

Atlanta —

Of everything Neal Boortz has said on the air in his more than for decades of talk radio, these are likely the last three words his audience wanted to hear: “Adios my friend.”

Today national radio talk show host Neal Boortz announced live on his program that he’s retiring from his daily show and passing the torch to his friend and colleague, Herman Cain. His last day hosting The Neal Boortz Show, which premiered on News/Talk WSB in 1993 and now airs on more than 200 radio stations with six million weekly listeners, will be January 18, 2013.

“It’s time for me and my wife, Donna, to hit the road and travel in ways that we have not been able to through most of our 42 years together,” said Boortz – also known as “The Talkmaster” and “The High Priest of the Church of the Painful Truth.”

“...and passing the torch to his friend and colleague, Herman Cain”

This will kill the show.

I stumbled onto his program once as I drove through Atlanta back in the 90’s. I then found a local station in IN that carried him and I've never stopped listening. He was really good at what he did...he made you think without beating you over the head.

Herman Cain will be his replacement! Talking right now on the air!

I won't. He jumped the shark a few years back. I can't stand a "libertarian" who starts sounding like anything but.

Teen drivers? Smokers? Approving of expansions of government against things he personally doesn't like (as in the aformentioned...)

Good riddance. Hypocrisy really bugs me.

Bring on Herman. Sooner rather than later.

i soured on Boortz real quick when he launched one day on a gruesome proabortion tirade. It was truly grotesque to hear...Ive never listened since.

Happy Trails, Neal. I grew up in the Atlanta area. Listened to him when I was at Emory Univ.

Thanks for telling it like it is way before Rush. He is currently the 6th most listened to talk radio program.

Everyone should read his “The Commnencement Speech You Need to Hear.”

http://www.gotgoldreport.com/2012/05/the-commencement-speech-you-need-to-hear.html

No one has been more passionate about the Fair Tax or his diatribes against the public school system as “tax payer funded child abuse.” And you know the guy has to be good if he goaded O’Reilly into calling him a “vicious son of a bitch” oh The Factor.

Am glad he is still going to be on air when Obama goes down in a landslide. Wish you all the best and enjoy your travels. You’ve earned it. You’ve come a long way from writing speeches for Lester Maddox lol.

This will kill the show.

No doubt. Cain will be given a year. After that, he will be back to selling Pizza’s.

Do you realize that Herman had a show on WSB before he quit to run for POTUS?

Erick Erickson runs it now and does a better job than Herman ever did. Herman's big plus was that he was inspirational, something that disappeared once all the other women started showing up.

I’ll take Herman over a Pro-Abortion, Pro-Gay Marriage blow hard any time.

I am on the same page as you. I discovered him and listened to him religously on line. I was on the verge of becoming a huge fan....then I bought his newly released book at the time and it was so frought with hypocrisy, I never listened again.....It was rather depressing.

I found him unlistenable. He’d come across stuff on the internet days after it was stale, and his pushing the “fair tax” was tedious, promising some kind of magic if we changed how we collected taxes, while ignoring the fact that it was the amount of governement spending that was the problem.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Promoting the Fair Tax was the only thing I liked about him. Stopped clock and all.

Good riddance. Boortz’s extreme social libertarianism, refusal to take pro-life calls & mocking of Sarah Palin were deal-breakers for me.

Yes, I was aware.

However, his time slot was different.
As a result, my prediction is he won’t be able to pull
the weight on this time slot.

“Why?”

He had a show.

If you ever heard it I bet you wouldn’t be asking why...
