Why stop there? If sugar is bad, so are energy drinks, cigarettes, cigars, alcohol, anything with cholesterol in it, riding a bike without a helmet, cars that go faster than 35 mph (that’s all they’re crash tested for), hang gliding, parasailing, skydiving, BASE jumping, rock climbing, water skiing, snow skiing, power tools, firearms, fireworks, chainsaws, sharp knives, bathtubs, swimming pools (that kill more children than guns), tile floors that get slippery when wet, carpet that harbors mold and bacteria, lightning, large trees (kids can fall from them when climbing), fishhooks, buckets (can drown small children), the sun, video games, bowling, baseball, softball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, golf, cell phones, turkey fryers, large dogs, house cats, hiking, standing in a floodplain, car jacks, toasters, AC power, stairs, ropes, power cords, strings, small objects that children can put in their mouths, razors, household cleaners, drain openers, loudspeakers, lead paint, lead bullets, lead fishing sinkers, gasoline, used motor oil, motorcycles, four wheelers, golf carts, wilderness areas, tall cliffs, airplanes, boats, jackhammers...
Heck. If we’re clammoring for government to save us from ourselves, let’s just mandate that everyone must live in a padded room and eat only carrots and celery for the rest of their lives. Bloomberg is a hero! Thank you, O’ Annointed One, for saving us from ourselves!
