I’ve coached basketball for many years at various levels, from recreation leagues to AAU. This means I interact with many black parents, at games, on trips, banquets etc. They know my politics. Politics comes up a lot. ALL of them were for Obama four years ago.

Of the eight or ten black parents I know well, only a couple of them are still openly for Obama. The best way I can describe the rest of them is that they are embarrassed by him and want him off the stage. These are good, solid, church-going middle class blacks, for the most part. They drive decent cars and go out to eat frequently. I sensed they were embarrassed by him before the gay marriage announcement. Now they overtly express disgust, not so much with Obama, but curiously with Michelle. Many of the women abhor her. More than a few have openly admitted they will stay home in November.

Their kids hang out with, and date whites. I coach girls too. One of my white girl stars ended up marrying a black player that I also coached. The black boys date white girls, and vice-versa. We’re in a new world, folks. I bet we’ll see 90% of the black vote still go to Obama, but turnout will be way down.

In the beginning, healthcare was not on their radar. It is now. They’ve never had much to say about Obama’s foreign policy but can’t seem to find anything they like about his domestic policies. They’ve made the connection between gas prices and food prices, and Obama’s policies. Many of them have told me they don’t like Eric Holder. Hmmm. Didn’t see that one coming. They were completely polarized on Trayvon/Zimmerman, and now none of them want to talk about it.

I know this is anecdotal, the sample size is tiny, and these are not inner city blacks I’m speaking of, but I don’t believe Obama can count on monolithic allegience this time.

Interesting, coach. Thanks.

Like FReeper A’elian’nation said yesterday in “The Friendless President”...

“Obama has no roots in his own party. Like his Black friends say, “He was never there for the struggle,” and that applies more to the heavy democrat party lifting than the civil rights movement.”

Need more evidence?...

You have good parents who are involved with their kids. Their kids participate in sports and they show up. I’ve seen it first hand myself, but in a school with kids with difficulties.

If the parents were white they ALL showed up, to support their kids. The blacks no. On parent teacher night classrooms with more black children were empty. My lib friend was convinced it was socio-economic. (They couldn’t get off work, etc) I felt it was cultural. (The Democrat mantra - it’s the schools job to teach my kid, not mine). The teacher told me the parents were either hostile towards the system and didn’t care.

Just the same, your anecdotal story is nice to hear. It shows some people think with their brain, and not their skin.

Thanks for sharing #9. It's encouraging. From our perspective we have loads of Latino family and friends who can't stand him from the perspective of Christian faith. They cannot reconcile their most basic tenants with liberal policy...doesn't compute. Makes them natural conservatives in many cases, borderline with major doubts in the case of the more left leaning.

More than a few were raised in places that didn't permit guns, but one couple we know who were anti-gun felt compelled to buy some of late. Spent the holiday weekend trying them out. Now they are talking about going back and asking about different types of guns. I think they are hooked - lol!
