Is JC Penney trying to become GayC Penney, or is it just a smart marketer?
Last year, the company announced that Ellen DeGeneres, who is openly gay, would be its latest spokesperson. On Mothers Day, it featured a lesbian couple in one of its ads. And now, just in time for Fathers Day, the retail chain has issued another print ad, this one with real-life couple Todd Koch and Cooper Smith, and their two young children.
The copy reads: What makes Dad so cool? Hes the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver all rolled into one. Or two.
Once again, the ads have raised the ire of the conservative One Million Moms, that is again accusing JC Penney of promoting sin in its advertisements.
Its obvious that JCP would rather take sides than remain neutral in the culture war, OMM writes. JCP will hear from the other side, so they need to hear from us as well. Our persistence will pay off! One day we will answer for our actions or lack of them. We must remain diligent and stand up for Biblical values and truth. Scripture says multiple times that homosexuality is wrong, and God will not tolerate this sinful nature.

Has a gay manager taken over at JC Penny?

UGH.....the CEO is from Apple. I will NEVER buy something from them again til this crap stops.
Ninety percent of the blog posts are very positive and heartwarming. But some of the ones that are so hateful shock me, Smith, 37, who owns a public relations firm in Dallas, told ABCNews.com. I just dont know how anyone could project so much hate toward something as loving as the relationship we have with our kids. That photo was just a moment in time that showed our affection toward our children and how we care toward them. Nothing is being shoved down anybodys throats.
Too soon?
The one who sold this is brilliant (hail Capitalism). The ones who bought it are dolts! (hail Socialism).
Ask the clerks how they feel about the Gay trend of J C Penny. I can't believe all those people working for them aren't upset about this ... Asking would fan INTERNAL decent. If the employees would band together and rise up on this policy, management might reconsider. (but I doubt it too).
you know I was kidding, right? >.>

Ok.
However the critique of social conservatives for allegedly wanting government to intervene on their behalf, is a common one among libertarian types here on FR.
You know, unimportant issue like killing babies, and government sponsored mainstreaming of the pervert agenda.
It’s more or less the assumption that when you combine more or less the gays plus their friends, you have a significant growth in business, but so far, the trend has been, you get a minimal boost for a while, then if your own business was going down, it will continue to go down since out of your total patronage, only a small percent either are gay or much less care. Then there’s the unaddressed issue of really providing more than pictures of your potential patrons’ lifestyle. What good is portraying what your own customers might do when you may simply not have their desired products?

Bad wording right there...
A novice CEO perhaps.
What's next - Burger King advertising for gays? Yeah, that's a match.
Reverse it to see how ludicrous this strategy is: If radical straights ran ad agencies - and wanted to increase market share for bath houses by picturing a 'mother, father, and 3 kids' romping around in one - it would be the equivalent. Stupid. It's not a market match - group-think at it's worst.
Not enough gays shop at JC Penney for this approach to make sense. Insulting the 98% of the population that's NOT gay isn't a good business model when it's that 98% that shops at your establishment.
What they are asking is businesses sell stuff and stay out of political/social issues. Christians are not jihadists, the behavior is sinful and it is for Christians to call it such, not non believing merchants.
If it’s about consenting adults in private (as they say), when do the children consent to being brought into an alternative lifestyle relationship as an accessory?
The ad is a rarity in that most times when you see gay men adopt, they only want boys.
I read a comment by Elton John the other day - something about being sad his kid would never have a real mom.
I should have gone back to read the whole article in context, but I didn’t. But I’m sure even the most strident homo feels that prick every so often. They know, in their heart of hearts, it’s wrong to raise a kid without a mother.
