Fewer Than 1,000 People Show Up for Bill Clinton-Tom Barrett Rally in Milwaukee
The Weekly Standard ^ | June 2,2012 | JOHN MCCORMACK

Milwaukee Just four days out from the Wisconsin's historic gubernatorial recall election, former president Bill Clinton and Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett could only draw a small crowd to a rally Friday on Barrett's home turf.

As the Associated Press notes, the crowd numbered only in the "hundreds," a sign of the enthusiasm gap between Democrats and Republicans that has appeared in some polls. Overcast weather and the short notice of the event (it was announced just yesterday) may have depressed turnout.

Clinton said that although he doesn't normally support recall elections, "sometimes it is the only way to avoid a disastrous course." If Walker wins, his allies would "break every union in America," Clinton explained. Barrett has warned that if Walker wins reelection he'll make Wisconsin a right-to-work state, something Walker has denied. Bill Clinton's native Arkansas has been a right-to-work state since 1944, but the former president and Arkansas governor made no mention of any negative consequences the state has experienced because of that law.

Later in the day, Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina (another right-to-work state) campaigned with Scott Walker at a factory in Waukesha. Haley spoke on the theme of Walker's "courage."

"We will never be judged by what we said. We will be judged by what we do," Haley said. "He had the courage to take it on even when it got ugly, and he never stopped."

"Are you going to award the courage he showed," Haley asked. "Are you going to respond to the results he gave you?"

"Politics has got to be the only profession where you get called 'courageous' just by keeping your word," Walker told factory workers. "Everywhere else in life, in business, in our families, it's expected. But somehow it's exceptional in politics."

I’m far from Wisconsin but I hope and pray that Governor Scott Walker will not only be victorious on Tuesday but win the recall vote with a decisive margin of victory so that re-count shenanigans can’t steal the election. I also hope that the people of Wisconsin will have made their disgust with socialist government and union thuggery understood in a manner that cannot be easily explained away by media pimps for Obama and the socialist Democrat party.

Why the heck do you think Barack Hussein Obama never showed his mug face in Wisconsin? His appearance would be the kiss of defeat for any Democrat. And....Bill Clinton only did it because he thinks Obama is going to crash before the November election, and....he and Hillary can then jump in, destroy Obama politically, and....then... Ms. Clinton runs for POTUS. The turnout of the labor union thugs in Wisconsin shows that Governor Scott Walker will handily win the recall election next Tuesday. Clinton did zilch for dead beat, upcoming loser Barrett!!!

When Bill came to a rally for Hinchey (D, NY) in 2010, my husband went to stir up trouble. He and a friend were some of the first through the door of the venue which was supposed to hold 250 (I think). Anyway, the Hinchey camp delayed the start of the rally due to poor turnout, and made some calls to the nearby State University. Within 45 minutes a bunch of collage bussed rolled up and released 100+ students. The collage is literally a ten minute drive from the venue where the rally was held.

Neither Hinchey nor Bill Clinton would appear until the room was propped up with students - about an hour and a half after the thing was supposed to begin. Still never got to capacity though, LOL.

Hubby loves his memory of that rally - it went viral on YouTube.

"Overcast weather and the short notice of the event (it was announced just yesterday) may have depressed turnout. "

Yeah...that's it...overcast weather. If the sun was shining brightly, the crowd would have been 100,000...

It COULDN'T be that the good citizens [as opposed to the subjects] of the Badger State have become wise to the ruse now, could it.

Seems like the citizens of Wisconsin are really showing their brass ones of late: Hell, their even making Texans look meek!

God bless!!!

overcast weather in June in Wisconsin held down turnout???? Really????

A place with winter cold snaps well below zero will see poor attendance at an event in spring because it’s overcast???? What the heck??????

The Marquette law poll which is one of the more accurate had him winning by 7. Taking into account they oversampled democrats, and that they estimate the dems will cheat enough to get 2 percentage points, 7 percent seems to be about right. We just need to get people out to vote and we’ll win.
