A 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old believed to be his brother were arrested on first-degree murder charges Friday after their mother told police she found her sons standing over a young man's body in their Tacoma house when she came home.
The relationship, if any, between the unidentified victim and the teenage boys was not immediately disclosed. Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum did not say how the man died, except to say there were "signs of trauma to the body."
According to Fulghum, the boys' mother drove to a police substation and told police she arrived home at 847 E. 52nd Street at about 2 p.m. Friday and found a man's body inside her house. She said her two teenage sons were standing over the body in their home when she arrived.
Police, however, said when officers got to the house with the mother, the body was no longer in the home, but in a recycling bin in the back of the house. Police said the man died in the house, and his body was then moved to the bin.
"What were those boys doing moving the body?" asked neighbor Briann Hein. "Why was the body moved?"
The boys were arrested on first-degree murder charges, police said
Fulghum said the name and exact age of the victim isn't known, but he's likely a teenager. He said the victim's body showed obvious signs of trauma.
It's unclear if the boys knew the victim, and Fulghum said the investigation is still in its early stages.
"Part of what we're looking at is weapon, what took place, why it happened, who all is involved," he said. "We haven't identified our victim so we have a long way to go."
That must have been very hard for the mother to do. God help her.
Indeed, such a thing to come home to. Her entire life turned upside down in an instant. Hopefully the mother has caring relatives who will be there for here at this most terrible time.
WHAT’S THIS BODY DOING HERE!?!??!?!
Just wait till your father gets home.
I agree but I was wondering why she didn’t ask her boys who he was and what he was doing there before she went to the police. Didn’t it entered her mind it could have been a break in or something - instead it appears she, automatically, thought her boys were not innocent. She didn’t tell them she was going to police either; otherwise, I doubt they would have moved the body. Weird. But, nonetheless, the grief must be unbearable.
Good thinkin' there boys! The cops will NEVER think to look there, 'cause a human body isn't recycling.
Were relations in that family, er, strained?
“Boys! How did that body get here! If I told you once I told you a dozen times, I don’t want clutter in the house! Now take it out to the recycling bin!”
The minerals in my body include a titanium knee and a steel shin as well as steel wire in my jaws.
I know a few kids that everybody (Including the parents) knew were destined for prison. In fact one of them found a skeleton in the camper behind their house. Even the FBI got involved in that one. The little bastid broke into a crypt.
No doubt there’s more to the story than what appears here.
If she did ask them and they answered, she would have information against the legal interests of her sons. Surely that wouldn’t appear in a newspaper story.
If she didn’t ask them, but left and drove to the station before doing anything else, perhaps there was something she knew or saw that told her the sons were guilty of SOMETHING and it was up to authorities to sort it out.
And after all, there was an unexplained dead body in her house and her sons were standing over it and she had no way of knowing what happened because she wasn’t there. Her sons might be known liars, untrustworthy etc.
The idea came to me, suppose she was afraid of what they might do to HER, if she did anything other than get out of there.
Random thoughts...
A few days back.
Mich. Grandmother Sandra Layne shot grandson 8 times
She shot him, called 911, then shot him some more.
Grave robber, that’s macabre, though not like a bloody murderer would be.
Spoil sports
Given this thread’s present trajectory, it seems be morphing into a “recycling fail” thread that ‘may’ need your attention.
Wow.....I’m looking at grandma’s picture and she sure resembles Susan Sarandon.
4:57 Aww, lookie here, looks like somebody threw away a perfectly good white boy.
