As I said, I have dealt with the production and packing of so-called organic produce for years. While all growers with whom I have dealt were good husbands of their product, ground and trees, etc., they were in the business to make a living.

Those who went the organic direction did so in order to enhance their profitability, period.

Once again, there is no evidence that eating conventionally grown produce causes cancer or Alzheimer's or anything else. There is no nutritional difference between the two products.

In addition, what chemicals that are applied, either organic or conventional, are dissipated in a matter of hours. The harsh chemicals that Rachael Carson and other environmentalists talk about are long gone.

Except for a few that are labeled for organic application. The one that comes to mind is a product named Black Leaf 40 and some related compounds. The toxin used in these product contain lethal amounts of nicotine and are applied to organic produce to kill bugs. Not only are they lethal to the bugs, but they are lethal to humans as well.

Let me suggest some reading for you. Read a book called 'Trashing the Planet' by Dixey Lee Ray. This is one of the most footnoted books you will ever read.

One can read the convoluted rules from the USA government here: http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr&sid=3f34f4c22f9aa8e6d9864cc2683cea02&tpl=/ecfrbrowse/Title07/7cfr205_main_02.tpl But even after seeing how complex the laws actually are, one can see that LESS CRAP is on the organic crops that the nonorganic. It’s not a question of perfect. Also, there are individual farms that are truly concerned about healthy produce or animals and you can visit them and see how they don’t just try to loophole their way around USDA laws; they go farther than the laws to grow and raise food tht is as natural and healthy as they can. It makes a huge difference. To me, it’s like have two bowls of strawberries before you and your hostess sprinkles round up over one bowl. Which one do you wish to sample from? Even if the hostess says you can have MORE from the round up bowl (cheaper price)? Even when you know Round Up causes Alzheimer’s?

Thanks for recommending a book.

I am a religious conservative who believes that if the globe warms or cools, it isn’t our fault and there isn’t much we can do about it. I believe we have domi ion over the earth, plants, other animals.

Of course I believe we are ENTRUSTED by Gd to be caring and considerate of nature, but not to worship it. To use its bounty but not to destroy it needlessly.

In today’s cities where we don’t grow or kill our own food, we have to decide what foods we buy are healthiest and best. I appreciate your point of view as having worked in the biz but just because something costs more and sells for more doesn’t mean it isn’t better.
