Gov. Rick Perry is once again slamming out-of-state interest groups backing former solicitor general Ted Cruz in his runoff with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst this time tweaking Sarah Palin, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint and Rick Santorum by suggesting their states could learn a lot from Texas, but Texas doesnt need their advice on choosing its next U.S. senator.
Perry, standing staunchly behind Dewhurst, brushed off the question about whether his own tea party credibility may be damaged by his opposition to Cruz, who has been endorsed by national conservative and tea party groups and figures (including Palin, DeMint and Santorum) in the runoff for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.

Without naming Palin, DeMint or Santorum, Perry called them to mind by naming their states: I appreciate everybody paying attention to Texas as well they should, they could learn some things on how to run South Carolina and Pennsylvania and Alaska.
Come to Texas and learn how to do it right, but dont come down here and tell us who needs to be our next United States senator, thank you very much. Well decide that without your outside, Washington, D.C.-oriented help, Perry said.

On the local radio show, they asked Leppert supporters who they would vote for in the run off.
Hard to tell where they would go at this point but that maybe a good sign for Cruz as Leppert was more of a regional candidate as opposed to statewide I’d guess. I haven’t looked at county by county returns, just an opinion. Leppert did have some money, 8 million plus of which 4 million or so came from his personal finances. But the DFW area was his home area.
I was at the Cypress rally. 6000 of us turned out to see Sarah. I think that Perry was the only one to see Perry.
I know, and I wasn't trying to resurrect old debates. I was merely pointing out how often Perry finds himself on the wrong side of conservative issues.
He could support Cruz and should. It's only hurting his reputation that he won't.
You have a point about him being a regional candidate, but hopefully his statewide appeal was that he was not a political insider.
Agreed. Perry's support of Dewhurst is natural and no surprise at all. Where Perry screwed up was when he inferred that major players in the conservative movement should shut up.
It is Perry who should shut up, once he gets his boot out of his mouth. What a maroon.
He might be being shrewd too.
It could be that he is sabotaging Dewhurst while supporting him, but I think he is just being loyal to his Lt Gov.
I do see Perry’s point.

He certainly made the most out of appearing before a bigger, more excited crowd with her than he could have drawn himself.
The point is, he was happy with the very same out-of-state endorsement when it was on his side!
What exactly is Perry’s point?
The next senator from Texas will affect every conservative in the country with their votes in the senate.
In addition, Perry does not seem to mind all the “illegal Outsiders” in Texas.
Meh.
It’s politics.
When the word “hypocrite” is looked up in the dictionary, a picture of Perry comes up.
Okay Rick, lets turn back the time machine and withdraw Palin’s endorsement in 2010. Have fun against KBH! Cheers!
The point is, he was happy with the very same out-of-state endorsement when it was on his side!
That’s the point. It’s politics pure and simple. Not a big thing one way or the other.
Yeah, bitch slap him again---make sure he's out of the running for good. Meanwhile, we'll join hands and go vote for Willard Romney. /s
'Cause then she was being useful.
His point was clear-—did you read the article?
Yep, I know...”Perry loves illegals!” “Heartless!” Those memes are old hat.
It’s BS, but it’s coming from your guy so you’re okay with it.
your guy
Not sure about that but it’s pure politics plain and simple so nothing to be upset about one way or the other.
