Perry: We don’t need outsiders’ views on Senate race (Are you listening, Sarah Palin?)
Texas Chronicle ^ | Friday June 1, 2012 | Peggy Fikac

Posted on 06/01/2012 4:06:14 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

Gov. Rick Perry is once again slamming “out-of-state interest groups” backing former solicitor general Ted Cruz in his runoff with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst –this time tweaking Sarah Palin, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint and Rick Santorum by suggesting their states could learn a lot from Texas, but Texas doesn’t need their advice on choosing its next U.S. senator.

Perry, standing staunchly behind Dewhurst, brushed off the question about whether his own tea party credibility may be damaged by his opposition to Cruz, who has been endorsed by national conservative and tea party groups and figures (including Palin, DeMint and Santorum) in the runoff for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.

[...]

Without naming Palin, DeMint or Santorum, Perry called them to mind by naming their states: “I appreciate everybody paying attention to Texas – as well they should, they could learn some things on how to run South Carolina and Pennsylvania and Alaska.

“Come to Texas and learn how to do it right, but don’t come down here and tell us who needs to be our next United States senator, thank you very much. We’ll decide that without your outside, Washington, D.C.-oriented help,” Perry said.

Oh, and I voted Paul in an effort to stop Romney from cinching the nomination.

Good for you.

Texas had 152 delegates at stake in Tuesday’s primary. Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who has stopped campaigning in primaries but is still accumulating delegates, won 18. The rest were sprinkled among candidates who dropped out of the race weeks or even months ago.

“Perry: We don’t need outsiders’ views on Senate race”

I don’t care what you think you “don’t need”, Ricardo.

This is not a state senate race. If the new U.S. Senator from Texas will be voting on federal budgets, spending, taxes, federal judges, immigration issues, etc., it’s going to affect me even if I’m not in the Lone Star state.

I think that I’ll now make another contribution to Ted Crux.

******************
Perry is the Gov and Dewhurst is the Lt Gov. Who is he supposed to root for?

Would Cheney have gone against Bush in 2004?

It’s politics.
*******************

Not quite the same, they each run separately. It has been the case several times where the two were in different parties.

What a senator from another state does, affects all of us. Why do you think Wisconsin and Gov. Scott are in the news so often? It has everything to do with where the entire country is going. With national and state politics, we are all connected and affected.

Had Lepperts votes gone to Cruz we would still have a runoff but Cruz would have beaten Dewhurst in the polling.

Don't know where Leppert’s votes will go during the runoff but our Sarah only got Cruz up to 34% in the primary. Low turnout along with enthusiastic support may get him there in the runoff. We'll see.

Perry was more than happy to ride to reelection by having Palin come and campaign for him in Texas.

Somehow outsider help was okay then.

“If Rick wasn’t interested in outsiders, he would not have offered in state tuition for illegals.”

Great post and Sooooooooooooooooo True!
Perry LOVES Outsiders. They are all over the state of Texas!

Perry would have won reelection just fine without Sarah Palin.

On the local radio show, they asked Leppert supporters who they would vote for in the run off.

Everyone who called in said Cruz.
I remind Leppert supporters daily to vote Cruz on July 31st

I had numerous robocalls from Mike Huckabee in support of Dewhurst.

Same here. I answered a few and then sort of memorized most of the cell number. After that, I'd pick up and hang up.

Then why did Rick Perry accept an “outsiders” endorsement in 2010?

As I said, he is not going to campaign against his own Lt Gov.

When there is a better senatorial candidate he should. But I understand Perry offers little resistance on issues. Like when he went along with Texas' Dream Act. Oh wait, he enthusiastically supported that. Ok, how about when he attacked the Texas legislature for overriding his nanny-state EO on Ghardasil. He showed a backbone there! Why can't he do that when it comes to defending conservative issues or candidates? Nevermind, I already know the answer.

Perry loves illegal “Outsiders” in his state but doesn’t like “Legal” Outsiders in his state.
Except for the “Outsiders” from DC who support Dewhurst.

A WHOLE sandwich, not just a half of one, thanks.

Perry is just a little man, he only gets a little pansies partial sammich - a canape. You know, one of those faggoty little things with the crust cut off? That's the perfect s#!tsammich for Perry.
