Most of these secularized American Jews see no historical need for a land of Israel dedicated to their people. Even Israeli leftist Jews are still Israeli and have some fealty to the place. Not so for American leftist Jews.
Traditional Reform Judaism had no use or need for Zionism, having replaced “The Temple” with a lot of local temples throughout the world, and thereby considering Israel to be nothing more than an historical relic. With the establishment of Israel, this was an inconvenience that the “new” Reform movement has tried to adjust to. But I am sure that the existence of Israel as the “home” of Judaism is something that Liberal Reform/secular Jews could live without.
Agreed. I’ve been to Reformed “Synagogues”, and most attendees don’t believe in G-d. They do, however, believe in the primacy of the Democrat Party.
Chabadniks are maybe 50% R / 50% D. It’s a little more balanced politically, and they do believe in G-d!
