The head of Greeces Radical Left Coalition, whose strong gains in last months elections deepened concerns over his countrys future in the European single currency, vowed Friday to cancel Greeces international bailout agreement if he wins an upcoming repeat ballot.
Alexis Tsipras, whose Syriza party came second in the inconclusive May 6 polls, said there was no way to partially implement the terms of the bailout that the heavily indebted country has come to rely on to pay its way.

When enough 'plans' fail - Greeks will turn to a charismatic leader who will promise them that if they give him enough power, he'll make things better even if he has to use force. Hello Hitler...
Leave it to the left to fly the plane 100’ above the ground, roll inverted, and then activate the ejection system.
Without a parachute.
Without the financial urgency the union restrictions and other regulatory reforms will be set aside. This will be done via a new currency. The old dracmas will not be valid against the new dracmas. The 10 or so families that have banana republic ruled will continue to do so via inflating their currency.
They will be out of the euro but not out of the EU regulations.
Drudge already has posted that spain may leave the euro BEFORE greece.
But will that leader be able to build an awesome war machine to challenge the world? Not with Greeks used to sitting on their asses.
isn’t that a universal constant in europe?
that is how monarchies are formed.
aristocracies consolodate power.
the trains run on time.
musolini.
tito.
stalin.
the list goes on and on.
this fool is nothing more than a nevil chamberlin.
It does not matter what the Greeks do; the message from Germany is pretty clear:
“Die Party kommt zu Ende.”
It'll be hard to sit on their asses when pensions aren't being paid and the state can't afford to generate electricity for their TV's.
The good life's ending... and sitting around doing nothing - with it.
Thanks C19fan.
According to an energy industry source who declined to be named, DEPA has no cash to settle gas supply bills worth a total 120 million euros ($148.4 million) with Italian gas firm Eni (ENI.MI), Turkey's Botas and Russia's Gazprom (GAZP.MM), which fall due this month.
DEPA CEO Haris Sahinis declined to comment on the company's cash position but told Reuters: “DEPA is taking every action to avoid owing anything to its suppliers.”
If DEPA cuts off supplies, Greece's independent power producers such as Elpedison, Mytilineos (MYTr.AT), Heron and Corinth Power - which cover about 30 percent of the country's power demand - would be forced to stop operations.
Greece's grid operator ADMIE would then have to proceed to rotating power cuts to avoid a general blackout, just as the country's summer tourism season, a rare foreign exchange earner for the country's uncompetitive economy, goes into full swing.

Great. Riots in the dark and cops with no power. What could possibly go wrong?
Thanks, someone will save their bacon.
You forgot to put bank runs and food shortages into the miz. But, not to worry - like you say, what could possibly go wrong...
The European Left's candidate for the European Commission presidency, Alexis Tsipras, Friday called for the immediate release of Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams who is been held for questioning in connection with the 1972 murder of Jean McConville. Tsipras called the arrest a "politically inflammatory act against democracy".
