One of DC Comics oldest heroes is super-coming out.
The original Green Lantern - a DC Comics' mainstay for the past 70 years - will be revealed to be a gay man in next week's issue of "Earth 2."
Alan Scott - formerly a married father of two who first appeared in 1940 - tips readers off to his sexuality early on in the comic when he gives his boyfriend a welcome home kiss.
"He's very much the character he was. He's still the pinnacle of bravery and idealism. He's also gay," "Earth 2" writer James Robinson told The Post.
The Emerald Guardian's sexuality was rebooted along with the rest of his fictional universe as part of DC's "New 52" initiative aimed at rejuvenating their characters.
Robinson said he decided to make the change because making the character young again meant erasing Scott's gay superhero son out of existence.
"The only downside of his being young was we lose his son, Obsidian, who's gay. So I thought, 'Why not make Alan Scott gay?'" Robinson recalled. "That was the seed that started it."
He ran his idea by the bosses at DC, "who signed off on it without hesitation."

Parents don’t notice. Parents too busy chasing all mighty dollar.
I could kick Fuscia Man’s butt.
What is this friggin obsession with Gays?
I don’t see how, if one wants to viewed as a person, that they are not offended by being objectified like this.
Are you are person or are you gay?
Is being gay the whole of your identity?
Your primary identity?
Or is being gay one aspect of your life but not your whole person?
Are you interesting for the sake of being interesting and being interested in others or are you some carny, maybe on the midway, show?
Do you equate the attention you receive as being part of a donkeys and midget show?
I don’t know how in this day age you morons aren’t seeing this.
If your identity is a homo fine, we have parades for you in San Francisco.
If you identity is much more complex and you think about quite a few other things throughout the day, you might be interesting to hang out with.
Grow up and figure what you are.
Newspapers ONLY give the finger to half their potential customers - but to give the finger to 98% of potential customers? That take REAL stupidity...
/sarcasm
The comic industry is so PC it squeaks...many of its customers are conservatives (look at the comic readers here at FR), but they are completely ‘blown off’ (heh) by the screeching libs on the creative side of the industry. Of course; DC and Marvel are located in NYC, so comics DO reflect the sick world outside THEIR window...
We truly live in the end of times. God save us.
There are hundreds of Green Lanterns...the black guy is just one of many. AA, you know. :-)
Take comfort...G-d will save those who belong to Him...He gave His word.
"Look, up in the sky...it's a bird, it's a plane, it's SUPERFAG!"
That whole thing about giving your customers the finger is so ... well, weird. Then again many journalists, writers, and artists are out of work - but even that's not hint enough.
Just clueless and self indulgent. Monkeys running the zoo...
If they had the courage of their convictions, they would have made it Clark Kent, or at least Hal Jordan.
No, like all liberals, they want to morally preen while making no sacrifices. They want to have their cake and eat it, too.
Can’t be true. He’s in love with Hawkgirl of the Justice League!
Hollyweird can get the poofter who plays Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory to be the lead character in the inevitable movie.
But it wasn't THIS "Green Lantern."
Now I gotta go wipe it off my FR profile page...Ain't leavin' THAT thing up there now....
DC is just like Hollywood...agenda over profit. "Who cares that setting those flyover rubes straight is going to kill our business? Preach it, brethren!"
Heavy metal is gay.
Pro wrestling is gay.
Football is gay.
You can generally tell what entertainment is gay by looking at the audience. If the audience is 97% male and the entertainers are male, than it is probably gay. Tight clothing or missing clothing on the entertainers is another sign of gayness. There are some things that are mostly male, and are not gay: Golf is not gay, auto racing is not gay, hockey is not gay, yet, chainsaw competitions are not gay.
That should kill any re-boot of Green Latern movie which considering how horrible the movie was is a good thing.
Sick bastards
