Unbelievable. Just as ridiculous as the soda ban, is that fruit juices and diet drinks aren’t included. Mega sized fruit juices are pretty much just as bad as soda in terms of sugar/fructose content. Diet drinks aren’t much better. I can’t wait for my local gov’t to pull a similar silly-assed stunt.

What’s incredible is how little resistance and anger this insulting, moronic law will provoke - just like the hundreds of other legal and bureaucratic impositions our politicians inflict on us these days. People get the government they deserve. We’re devolving into a nation of baffled, uncomprehending children.

The measure would not apply to diet sodas, fruit juices, dairy-based drinks like milkshakes, or alcoholic beverages;

Wouldn't want to ban the 40's, would we?

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
— C.S. Lewis

So have they also banned the sale of bottled water? That seems to be the craze on the left coast.

Not yet, but we all know that nannystatists never stop.

Blow the bridges and the tunnels. Let 'em starve. The US, without Manhatten, would be, overall, a more intelligent and thoughful nation. The presumption that, somehow, college imparts some special cachet of increased intellectual ability is constantly being challenged by Democrat pronouncements.

Seriously. Have you ever met a Lib who can change a tire, or his own oil, or work a simple quadratic, or build a fire?

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

A Lib doesn't qualify as human, and should be treated as you would any other vermin...

I slipped into the DUmp briefly (just before taking a shower, of course) to see what the hyper-lefties thought of this nanny statism. Even many of THEM think that this is BS. If the radical Lefties like them think this is overboard - amazingly, some even used the term “nanny state” in their disagreement! - you can believe that your run-of-the-mill Democrat is livid.

Maybe more people are actually noticing that the Emperor has no clothes?

The 'worst drink in America': 2,000-calorie milkshake has as much saturated fat as 25 rashers of bacon

780 calories and this is just regular size. Now they can sell Big Gulp Long Island Ice Teas at the drive-thru with about ten shots of liquor and over 2000 calories! ;-)
