Conservative groups are calling on Minnesota seniors to boycott the American Association of Retired Persons over the groups opposition to the photo identification measure on the November ballot.
To drive their point home, seniors gathered at a Wednesday press conference snipped AARP cards into shreds. They say there are conservative-affiliated groups that can give them the same senior discounts and that share their conviction that requiring a photo ID to vote will reduce voter fraud.

First AARP pulls one on Obamacare, now Voter ID..drip, drip.
No right minded senior should have an AARP card.. I resigned from that group years ago...
Join a conservative seniors group. There’s at least one out there.
Here are a couple Conservative groups

Chuck Woolery has been pitching this one on TV lately.
The AARP has transitioned into a corporation and liberal advocacy organization - it will promote policies that will further its financial interests. It is now only disguised by its former reputation as a seniors group.
This organization is a good alternative: http://www.generationamerica.org/
It makes a wonderful medium-light pick.
Mrs Dog and I washed our hands of AARP, which vociferously supported the bill, when Congress passed the Obamacare boondoggle. AARP continues to send us stuff which goes from the mail box to the burn pile without passing go. sd
AARP should know better...
I like that! From now on that’s what I am going to do.
Every time AARP sends me something (and they do, often) I cram all their literature into the remittance envelope provided with a note saying “I DO NOT WANT TO BE PART OF YOUR PRO-LIBERAL ORGANIZATION!” and send it back to them using their pre-paid postage. It doesn’t stop the mailings but it costs them money and frankly, I enjoy doing it.
AARP CEO A. Barry Rand (left) and AARP President Jennie Chin Hansen.
The envelopes are big.
You can add the day’s rubbish, used Kleenex, whatever.
No thanks.
Chopped up my card long ago. Join AMAC. The conservative senior site.
See if you can tape it on to a brick or add a some metal to the envelope and let me know the results!
lol! Compared to the envelope that was sent to me the remittance envelope is usually small. So when I cram ALL the info back into it it usually looks like there is a brick inside. I’m sure the USPS hates processing such items and charges accordingly. I like the brick idea, though. :-)
I don’t have an AARP card. I have a concealed carry permit.
