Rep. Thaddeus McCotter will run a write-in campaign for the GOP nomination after botching the signature requirement to make the Congressional ballot in Michigan.

To be fair 50% of the district voted for a guy named Barack Obama.
Taj is indeed a Muslim, his own site doesn’t mention it but he appears on a list of elected Muslims. Roberts however is a Larooshie wackjob, he thinks Obama is gonna start a war with Russia that will lead to nuclear holocaust. To win the rat primary in a walk all Taj has to do is make sure people know that. Larooshies only win when no one knows they are Larooshies.
Taj is the official candidate, I’m positive the unions will make sure their loyal voters know to vote for him. His name will be on their flyers and pamphlets.
Obviously he’s more a serious a candidate than I first thought but I doubt he’d win the general election over Bentivolio if the latter ran a competent and properly funded race.
I expect McCotter to win the nomination as a write in however.
Hmm...not impressed. A vigorous write-in primary campaign for an August primary just might spill over into November.
If he fails to win in August, might he challenge Levin in ‘14?
Interesting, I wasn’t aware that in some states (not Michigan) you could put a sticker with the candidates name in the write in spot. If Texas had allowed that Shelly Sekula-Gibbs would have been elected to Delay’s seat in 2006.
That works here too (stickers, that is).
McCotter is a worthless load.
His ACU rating for 2011 was less than 67, and his lifetime rating after 9 years is less than 83.
That’s beyond pathetic.
And now we know he’s not only a liberal, he’s an incompetent liberal.
Yikes. Go away, McCotter.
Liberals hate guys like McCotter because he plays electric guitar better than Madonna.
Thad McCotter is not ready for the Presidency.
That said, he is well versed in constitutional rhetoric, and well-known, so I believe he will get the Republican nomination.
Update: McCotter is *not* running as a write-in. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/301645/re-welcome-back-mccotter-robert-costa
And neither is Trott. But Rocky Raczkowski might? http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120529/POLITICS01/205290377 Rocky would make a fine Congressman, but winning a write-in campaign with that name will be very difficult.
Thanks for the update, Goldwater.
I do think there’s something odd about the whole situation. After all, this is the same part of the state where the fake tea party arose.
I expect that between McCotter, Schuette, and Johnson we’ll get to the bottom of it.
Schuette Announces AG Investigation of 11th Congressional District Petition Circulation.
May 31, 2012
LANSING - Attorney General Bill Schuette today announced the Attorney General’s Criminal Division will investigate allegations of possible fraud related to nominating petitions filed in Representative Thaddeus McCotter’s 2012 candidacy for the 11th Congressional District. The decision to investigate follows a formal referral from the Secretary of State’s Bureau of Elections.
“We will follow the facts, without fear or favor,” said Schuette. “It’s our duty to maintain the integrity of our election process. We will conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation. If evidence of criminal violations is uncovered, we will not hesitate to prosecute.”
Earlier this month, Representative Thaddeus McCotter submitted nominating petitions to the Michigan Secretary of State for his candidacy for the 11th Congressional District. A formal review by the Bureau of Elections revealed various discrepancies in the petition filing, including duplicate signatures and the appearance of altered petitions
I believe Rocky is from Farmington Hills which is in the 14th district.
What does this mean exactly ? Will AG Schuette order McCotter placed back on the ballot or will Kerry Bentivolio be unopposed for the nomination ?
I don’t see how the AG could possibly rule that McCotter should get on the ballot. McCotter didn’t get enough valud signatures, and he’s not even contesting that fact.
As for Rocky Raczkowski, sure, Farmington Hills is now outside the district, but the only constitutional requirement is that he reside in Michigan. Besides, he’s fairly well known in the district from his past campaigns. The problem is that he’d run as a write-in in the primary and would have to convince Republicans to show up and at least attemp to spell Rocky Raczkowski.
No I don’t believe Shuette intends to get McCotter on the ballot but he will prosecute the guilty.
I know the deadline for filing for a write-in in the primary isn’t until the end of July (puzzling why McCotter wouldn’t attempt that anyway), so is anyone else of note going to try to file that way, or is it going to be left to Bentivolio ?
Whoops, nevermind, I missed that second article.
