Former Republican presidential contender Newt Gingrich, looking rested and at ease before TV cameras, had some succinct advice Sunday morning for Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, the head of the Democratic Governors Association, who often is mentioned as a possible 2016 candidate for the White House.
Raise a lot of money, a smiling Mr. Gingrich told the governor on NBCs Meet the Press.
Mr. Gingrich, who dropped his own presidential bid earlier this month, showed flashes of why he briefly rose to the top of the Republican field, answering questions deftly and decisively, often squeezing in zingers while Mr. O'Malley stuck to Obama administration talking points.
We have driven, under President Obamas leadership, unemployment down to three-year lows, the Maryland governor said. Home foreclosures are lower now than they were when President Obama took office. We have put together 26 months in a row of private-sector job growth.
But Mr. Gingrich, who was one of the most aggressive critics of presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney on the primary trail this year, focused his criticisms Sunday on the White House.
This is an administration, the former House speaker said, that went from Yes We Can to Why We Couldnt.
Mr. Gingrich said that since his attacks earlier this year of Mr. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor has done a good job of explaining and justifying his time as the head of private equity firm Bain Capital.
He added that he is totally committed to the Romney campaign.
Given this economy, this level of unemployment, this level of deficits
its very likely [Mr. Romney] will win. And I think that youll see a pull away in September and October, Mr. Gingrich told Meet the Press host David Gregory.

Maryland “Freak State” PING!
My first thought as well.
I can't disagree.
Oh, I forgot. Dems are too damn stupid to know from embarrassment.
--Patrick Henry, to the Virginia Convention, March 23, 1775
I voted for Newt in DE as the “last conservative standing.” Why the eff is he giving advice to a MD Lib?
My lib governor OMalley has successfully imposed wave after wave of tax increases on us (thanks to the Maryland Sheeple voters) and I was more than pleased to watch Newt kick his behind on this Sunday show mini-Debate on NBCs Meet the Press..
Usually on NBCs Meet the Press OMalley is put up against a wimpy Republican who trying to play ‘nice guy’ while defending Republicans and they thought that they would have Newt on defensive for his Romney Bain attacks; but Newt stayed on Obama’s record like a heat seeking missile. Newt is really good when he does that.
Can’t stand these people.
Because it got Newt face-time on “Meet the Press”
Because O’Malley is the kind of guy Gingrich wants to get into office.
It was a joke about his own problem with keeping monetary pace with Mitt.
Mitt buried him in negative, lying ads.
His statement was a self-evident truth which he had sadly experienced in his own campaign.
Not for a second was it actual campaign advice, telling O’Malley something he didn’t already know, designed to get a left wing Democrat into office.
Interesting sick - it's a form of bias - the MSM picks who represents both parties - and they usually go for smart, strong white democrats - and wimpy Republicans with southern accents.
Good catch.
No one calls NBC, CBS, or ABC on the lack of blacks represented on their Sunday Morning shows. Lots of black democrats in high positions of power in the House - yet they never have them on... telling. Very telling.

That is Newt’s forte.

Much safer not to have them on.
Be careful what you wish for.
I remember one day Mark Levin went on a rant on how the MSNBC hosts were all WHITE. In less than a year Al Sharpton and Melissa Harris-Perry are hosts of their own shows with a main focus on how Republicans hate everyone except white males.
Al plays the angry faced race baiter, while Melissa (who is half white) plays the smiley faced professor race baiter. But their mission is the same, keep minorities scared of Republicans. Both support Obama 100% on those shows.

Same ol same ol....zzzzzzz
Al Sharpton and Melissa Harris-Perry were chosen as the ‘best’... Elected black democrats don’t reach that high a level... they need to put them on. - for one thing - they really ARE democrat power.
I was thinking ‘vetted’ - but you and sick might be right on this one...
[Newt Gingrich said, "Bill Clinton makes me melt, absolutely melt." I wonder how long their affair lasted?]
