My advice would be for her to quit school. She can do that at 17. Take the high school equivalency test, this is accepted in colleges. Go take the SAT (which she will obviously do well on) and attend University this fall.

Also write a polite note to judge to kiss her butt!

This was in 1953, but I quit school when 14 years old because finishing the eighth grade was all that was required to do so at the time. My single mother resisted, but going to work full time was needed to help support my four younger siblings. Not to mention, I absolutely hated sitting stifled in a class room.
