After a year of erratic weather, a large majority of New Jersey residents consider climate change and global warming a real concern and they also expect government to start taking a bigger role in protecting the environment, according to a Kean University/NJ Speaks poll released today.
The possible effects of climate change and global warming were a concern for 71 percent of respondents in the poll, and nearly all of those, 69 percent, said human activity has contributed to global warming and other environmental problems.

Kean University poll, eh. Ought to say it all . . .
NJ... marxist and progressive=no surprise.
LLS
All those tanning booths have cooked their brains!
Shallow, short-sighted KOOKS!
>and they also expect government to start taking a bigger role in protecting the environment
Sure no problem.
We start right there in NJ with a doubling of all taxes, tolls & fees statewide.
After we see how things progress in a few years, we can look to double them again. :)
Of course, what better protector of the global climate than the government? Nothing could go wrong with them in control could it?
Well I guess that settles it once and for all. Most of those asked wouldn’t know AGW from a heat wave. The pole is nothing but more propaganda from the socialist democrats to keep the climate change gravy train chugging along.
1,000 phone calls. Lets see,
333 in Newark
333 in Camden
333 in Irvington
1 in Warren county
1,000 total
See. It works out.
Of course, this record calm weather is due to Global Warming.
“Will be difficult to defeat Obama & Menendez in NJ.”
Agreed.
Did not Christie win there with barely a majority?
New Jersey, like New York, is “lost territory” to the Republicans. They should spend their money elsewhere where it will be better-spent.
Here’s the poll question: Are you one of those knuckle-dragging, racist, nazi global warming deniers or a responsible citizen who likes puppies and rainbows, who cares about the children and is “concerned” about global warming?
Since at least 50% of the damned fools in the world seem to come from New Jersey nothing they say surprises me.
Such polls are nonsensical unless posed with real world quantifications.
Start with something like this; “Would you accept a 10% tax increase to reduce the CO2 level by 0.00001% in 100 years?”
Now let us see what the poll responses are!
No sarcasm was used or killed in this comment.
Sure everybody wants ‘cleaner’ environment, and it seems people asked wants ‘bigger’ government role.
However, if the poll coupled with bigger government role = more jobs fleeing NJ, I wonder if the poll number stays the same.
Yeah, this story is BS. If people in NJ cared about “climate change”, we’d have a different governor right now. I assure you, as someone who watches people from NJ routinely throw trash out of car windows and dump old appliances wherever cement-block barriers don’t prevent it, this story is total BS.
The 1,000 people they called were shore business owners anxious about the weather this weekend; the interviewer blamed the (normal) spring rain on climate change, and the 1000 business owners concurred that they were concerned.
Nobody who takes the time to answer a telephone survey in NJ can think seven days ahead - this is about a rainy start to Memorial Day weekend.
New Jersey is a toilet. Who cares what they think.
This comes as no surprise after catching bits and pieces of Jersey Shore while channel surfing.
