Lawmakers are scrambling to save the summer concert season from federal agents poised to seize the instruments of rock and country stars because the wood used to make them may have been illegally harvestedand without their knowledge.
I dont want the musicians from Nashville who are flying to Canada to perform this summer to worry about the government seizing their guitars, said Tennessee Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander.

I'm just saying that IF that were to happen to someone (who happens to be a liberal musician), it might wake them up to the fascistic regime that they support, and that it's not all unicorns and rainbows.
It goes back to that old saw that a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged. Having your beloved Gibson guitar seized by government goons is a mugging.
Just wait til the Feds hear about grenadilla wood from Africa and Honduras rosewood used for clarinets and oboes. First thing, they will close down music altogether like the muslim culture.
I am ALWAYS at the front of the line to poop
on Barry’s Gay Pride Parade, BUT:
I saw this guitar story on FB the other day
and went to do do some research because it
seemed fishy.
The current, (OP posted) circulating story is a
little off.
I found the WHOLE story on one website,
but now can only find it on the Fox News site.
Here’s the thing; the original story was twisted
and spun and excerpted to make OUR heads explode,
and make us look foolish over a ‘non-issue’.
I hope this helps.
Sen Alexander was speaking about the bill he helped
to pass; Here’s a snip from the Fox article:
-Could federal law be cited to confiscate the
instruments of American artists traveling abroad
for the summer concert season?
If so, federal law is going to need a little
tweaking, Sen. Lamar Alexander said.

about the government seizing their guitars,
Alexander, R-Tenn., said Friday in a statement
released by his office
Please see my comment #11 above. While I understand the sentiment you (and others) express, it really is not the right reaction to this outrage.
Regardless of the musicians' unfortunate liberal beliefs, government tyranny directed at liberals is no better than government tyranny directed at us.
Ownership of private property is right up there alongside life, liberty, etc. in the writings of the Founders. As conservatives we must respect that even when it applies to those we disagree with.
Old news. Steam guitars are all the rage now.
Okay, thanks for the explanation.
IMO, we should always avoid gleefully suggesting that illegal government tyranny be directed at our fellow citizens, regardless of their political beliefs. Even if it manages to "wake them up", it's just not a good plan.
That said, I acknowledge that the "Schaedenfreude" factor here is a significant temptation. :)
It was an almost impossible task, but in just a few weeks our shop was turned into an agency of Inquisition. We had to decide if Seventh Day Adventist stories about the benefit of beans (with price tags per pound) were relevant to their religion, or simply secular commerce.
Then, after tens of thousands of beat downs on small groups and churches we finally got to the big boys ~ the National Rifle Association, Fund for Children, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, AARP, and the biggest one of all National Association of Women!
I handled all those cases. They all lost.
Bwahahahahaha~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Within weeks USPS lawyers and Justice Department lawyers decided we would stop overt enforcement of that 'beneficial legislation'.
Here's the deal, Congress has a model of enforcement that requires we take law abiding folks who make mistakes and CRIMINALIZE THEM!!!
This attitude will need to be fixed at some point. I have some ideas about what it will take.......
Funny, what I saw and read was proof that headlines don’t have to match the story they headline in any meaningful fashion.
BTW, if you haven't guessed, I've been a Gibson player all my life. Have a Les Paul Custom, a '62 SG, and a '65? Melody Maker.
I feel this issue personally.
Our communists King Obama will hand out waivers for liberals thus keeping their closet communists musicians.
Of course this is BS! This is lunacy! But the desire is for those lecturers who know soooo much more than us lowly conservatives to get a bite of the big government they want to cram down our throats.
When you get picked out to be crucified, they don't want you crawling down off of that cross.
Oregon ping. Senator Wyden is actually doing something sensible for a change...
Almost glad all I could afford was an Epiphone...
But it's potentially just as subject to having "forbidden wood" as any Gibson...
2 SG’s? You must have played a lot of Black Sabbath.
Nope I think its stupid for our Gub'ment to do such. But when it happens to some libtard musician who votes for Obummer I also think its "KARMA"...!
