“She also threatens him about not doing his work, and says its criminal to disrespect the Pres.”
IF this teacher had been the type to consistently say that students would never be disrespectful to the POTUS, regardless of who he/she is, then she might have grounds for jumping on a student. However, she was just an Obama fan and only thinks “free speech” goes in the direction she wants.
Even though I actually loath Mr. Obama. When I am talking in a public setting, I always properly call him President Obama. I have done the same for all presidents, even past ones. It is a common curtesy.
However, I think this “educator” was more interested in mind control and education.
“...When I am talking in a public setting, I always properly call him President Obama. I have done the same for all presidents, even past ones. It is a common curtesy...”
I don’t, and won’t. Most times, I refer to him as “Obama” the same way the other side referred to “Bush”. I believe in showing the same respect and courtesy as they showed - the EXACT same - and playing the game by the same rules the other side plays. Sometimes, I refer to him in much, much less complimentary ways.
This guy shows us what he thinks of our office, our house, our institutions, and our way of life - he spits on them. To earn respect and honor, it’s first required that you BE respectable and honorable, and to my mind, he’s neither. I know people who are both, and he doesn’t come close.
I understand respecting the office, but it’s very, very difficult for me to do so right now.
I respect your differing viewpoint, though, and your right to it.
