I did read that many of her gov’t co-workers donated their vacation time to her (8 month’s worth) so she received a steady paycheck for 8 months while she copyrighted her son’s name, and took to the road. I think that should NOT be permitted. Gov’t employees get vacation time, with the hope they re-charge and come back to work refreshed, not to be used for barter. I am sympathetic for this mother’s loss, but what I saw of her son’s past criminal activity (drugs and theft), and his boxing training, and his gold grill (where did he get that money for that???), just showed me a thug in training destined for bigger crimes.

So the taxpayers are footing the bill. Nice.

Look, I would not object if it was a catastrophic illness, for example. But in effect paying her to wander around the country is not right.

Eight months of donated time is pretty excessive. I rarely see that much for actual illnesses. You only get about four hours every two weeks and so a years worth could be wiped out by a short hospital stay.
