Female soldiers this week are moving into new jobs in once all-male units as the Army breaks down formal barriers in recognition of what has already happened in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The policy change announced earlier this year is being tested at nine brigades, including one at Fort Campbell, before going Army-wide. It opens thousands of jobs to female soldiers by loosening restrictions meant to keep them away from the battlefield. Experience on the ground in the past decade showed women were fighting and dying alongside male soldiers anyway.

If the female soldier is up to the task, so be it.
Command Sergeant Major of the Army. The top enlisted guy.
- and if she can’t pass basic lower the requirements.
Better yet, reinstitute human wave tactics.
If he/she can't pass Basic they shouldn't become a soldier.
Infantry isn’t the beginning and the end of the story, they can’t even lift a heavy cooking pot, change a truck tire, climb into a five ton, I watched some MI females try to set up their big canvas tent one time, it was a fiasco, the males of their unit had to go over and do it for them.
The military life, especially outdoors is largely moving heavy stuff, lifting, digging, handling things that need a man’s grip, every time we physically weaken ourselves we take a step back.
A 20 year Sergeant used to moving and utilizing 20 GIs to get maximum results, will have to adapt his expectations down if he gets 20 females instead.
Cute.
If they were then we wouldn’t be having the discussion, but they aren’t.
Don't worry they're ruining the Marine Corps too. I know so many SNCOs with 10+ yrs in, in critical MOS' (that are SHORT and NOT effected by the cuts) that are leaving in droves.........most of the people I know worth a damn are counting down the days [or already gone].
Elections have consequences.
Nope, the US won’t reconsider. Just like the Romans, they’ll keep partying the night away until the Vandals sack them.
It’s just not a good idea. The country is on a path towards destruction, this is another confirmation of it.
