The photo released of the back of Zimmerman's head was taken minutes after the confrontation. It can take bruises much longer than that to form and blood from the burst capillaries at the site of a contusion to pool under the skin.

Yes, but I'm thinking that the doctor who reported the cuts the next day would have noticed some bruising. I'm surprised he didn't mention it.
