Ricketts might have had a chance back then. He ran a great primary campaign. No bad mouthing anyone. Had someone who had a cute sense of humor doing his commercials. He couldn’t handle the dem attack stuff. He spent the whole campaign whining ( and it really came off that way) that the dem pacs (and Nelson) were being mean to him.

I think Bruning’s biggest mistake was dropping out for Johanns for Hagel’s seat.
The governorship is kind of a “rite of passage” for the Senate - both pubs and dems.
Johanns was W’s AG sec, and decided after Bruning started running that he wanted the seat.
I hope whomever wins this grill and beef...has the wherewithall to perhaps go to a local park and Feed the HOMELESS Vets!! That’s precisely what I would do!!

Why are vets homeless..
Viet nam vets who never got the treatment they needed for their PTSD—which then resulted in many becoming divorced....alcoholic....drug abusers...ERGO unable to obtain work....which therefore prevents them from getting a home/apt.......Many just feel as if they were never welcomed back into society and so they withdrew into themselves......
