NEW YORK (CBSDC) Even a Nobel Peace Prize winner cant avoid a pat-down.
Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger got searched by a Transportation Security Administration employee while going through a security checkpoint at LaGuardia Airport in New York Friday, The Washington Post reports.
Kissinger, who was in a wheelchair, was told by a TSA agent that he needed to be searched.
He stood with his suit jacket off, and he was wearing suspenders, freelance reporter Matthew Cole told the Post. They gave him the full pat-down. None of the agents seemed to know

In 1971 I used to carry around and show people a clipping where he said America was on it’s way down, and that they needed to manage that decline (not reverse it), I despised Kissinger back then.
Barack Obama is waiting before the heavenly throne to be judged. In front of him are standing Al Gore and Bill Clinton. Al Gore is ushered before the heavenly throne. G-d motions for him to speak. Al Gore stands and says as follows.
“L-rd of the Universe, I knew that global warming was total nonsense, but I was making money from it hand over fist. I even polluted the atmosphere with my private jet, going from one speech to the next. I hope you forgive me.”
“G-d says to him, “You are forgiven, my son.” Have a seat over there.
Next, Clinton is brought in. G-d motions for him to speak.
“L-rd of the Universe, I was such a philanderer that parents were afraid to let their children see the paper when I was President. My wife was a nervous wreck from my constant philandering. I was only the second president to be impeached. I hope you forgive me.’
“G-d answered, “You are forgiven, my son. Have a seat over there.
When Obama was brought in, G-d motioned for him to speak.
Obama said, “You’re sitting in my chair.”
In the other joke, a man is brought into heaven by the angel Gabriel. He is shown a star studded banquet table. He sees Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln. He sees Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. At the end of the table of history’s giants he sees a huge throne. Looking up the glittering golden steps, he sees Henry Kissinger looking down imperiously at the assembled dignitaries.
“Look at that throne!” the man says. And look at all these important people ! But why is Henry Kissinger up on that throne, looking so high and mighty? Does he think he’s G-d?
The angel Gabriel looks at him and shakes his head. “No, my friend, you’ve got it all wrong. That’s G-d. He thinks he’s Henry Kissinger.
Thanks very much for the historical information.
I was in the Mekong Delta in 1969, and I can testify from personal observation that a large proportion of even the so-called “Local Force” VC units were PAVN regulars even then.
All TSA operatives should get what’s coming to them before they are mobilized into Obama’s SS. — Stage 4 C.
What goes around. He’s been patting us down for decades.
I want the old bastard probed with a Taser and a branding iron.
But to be honest, it couldn't happen to a nicer person.
“Proof positive that TSA Agents are ignorant!”
Proof positive that their EVIL MISTRESS, the former Arizona Gov and now Homeland Security nimcompoop wants them ignorant so that they can pull off this kind of s...!
It also makes it easier to convince them to profile old white people as terrorists.
If they look like a 911 terrorist, or a drug smuggler from Mexico, leave ‘em alone, we do not want to profile suspects, not PC /sarc
Thank you for your post. It provides an overview that I never really appreciated about the extent of the VC’s losses during Tet, and North Vietnam’s cynical manipulations.
I have a copy of The PAVN: Peoples Army of Vietnam Nam boxed up in the man cave, and will dig it out to read along with the others you suggest.
This period remains vivid to me. I was first becoming aware of politics and ideologies, and my father was in the USAF. We were stationed in the Philippines in 1968. Dad’s next assignment was the RVN, and my mother and I came home. The whiplash effect of moving from a military base in the general theater to smug stateside attitudes really put me off of Democrats, the media, academia, ‘hippies’ and chickenhawks all in one fell swoop. We are still working through and damaged by many of the fracture lines reaching back to that conflict and that period.
Thanks again. I will indeed review those books.
To learn more about the destruction of the VietCong Infrastructure, read Dale Andrade’s “Trial By Fire” (1995) about the Phoenix Program (Phung Hoang) and the 1972 Easter Offensive when the NVA invaded RVN on three fronts and were thoroughly destroyed. The “great military genius” Vo Nguyen Giap wasted hundreds of Soviet supplied T-54 tanks and APCs.
FWIW, I was a Huey pilot and saw lots of destroyed vehicles around An Loc, and my Dad was deputy director of Phung Hoang.
Anyway, Dr. Kissinger is an old man who whatever you think should be treated with dignity & respect. I hope he unleashes Hell’s fury upon the TSA nazi thugs because I too have experienced their arrogance & Gestapo attitude.
