A high school classmate of presidential candidate Mitt Romney told ABC News today that he considers a particular prank pulled at Michigan's Cranbrook school to be "assault and battery" and that he witnessed Romney hold the scissors to cut the hair of a student who was being physically pinned to the ground by several others. "It's a haunting memory. I think it was for everybody that spoke up about it
because when you see somebody who is simply different taken down that way and is terrified and you see that look in their eye you never forget it. And that was what we all walked away with," said Phillip Maxwell, who is now an attorney and still considers Romney an old friend.

Please! Does the idiot whack left really want to go down this road?...Lets go into detail then about Obama's drug use. Can the media find some of Obama's old toking buddies and interview them?...What crap!
It's "seared, seared" in his memory.
They do want to go down this road. Because they know full well that they can say whatever they want about Romney, and never mention Obama’s past, and 90% of people are too stupid to notice.
So...I’m wondering how this ties into the “victim’s” sister who says this is much ado about nothing?
What is so funny here is that I can not remember one thing in my family when anyone talked about the queers..as a matter a fact I never knew what one was at all until I was around 24 yrs old..never heard any mention in school about someone different than myself..I felt like an idiot when I got a note telling me I was sexy and the note came from my assistant then I found out..I remember almost throwing up..thinking about it..
Wonder how long that sat on this? Probably a long time to make sure the other republican candidates were out of the race.
more to come to be sure....
...this sounds like he is recasting what would have been run-of-the-mill hazing at my school in the mid-70's into some kind of modern hate-crime. We were just being guys - get over it.
Let the whining begin.
Apparently word hasn’t reached Yahoo that the rest of the MSM is backing away from this ridiculous story as fast as their stubby commie legs can carry them.
Hilarious because the alleged perpetrators are now being portrayed as great guys because they have been “haunted” and because they now work on the Obama campaign.
IF these guys are now wonderful individuals, why would they assume Romney is not also a great guy, 50 years later.
Again, I compare this story to the NYT front page accusation that G H Bush was a “war criminal” because his diary said he strafed Japanese on the open sea in WWII.
IF Romney committed an “assault and battery” 50 years ago, which felonies did Obama commit by his own admission? Cocaine is pretty heavy lifting.
“said Phillip Maxwell, who is now an attorney and still considers Romney an old friend.”
You’re 15 minutes of useful idiocy are up Phil.
“”I grew up with him. We were best friends in elementary school. We always remained friends. Mitt is wonderful, very bright, an enormously energetic human being
a friend all my life, but this was a side of him that I hadn’t seen,” said Maxwell.
Maxwell added that he believes this is relevant in a Presidential campaign because it speaks to the “character” of Romney.”
Guy appears to have an agenda. Nonetheless, this was forty + years ago, and there’s no way to prove this ever happened. Even if it did, are we going to judge every adult on the basis of what happened in high school? They appear to really be reaching.
They can’t say that stuff about Romney, only WE can say that stuff about Romney.
Then again, they sold Obama as a great intellect and uniter. And bully is the new big scary boogeyman for media fed dingbats.
With respect the obie's admitted two lost years as a stoner, we can conclude he is but a lemming-like follower - a man who is easily manipulated and lead by those much brighter.
The media just wants to turn this election into a new “Mob Wives” TV series because, if the election was about the economy, jobs, healthcare, etc...BamBam couldn’t bring anything to the table.
Nobody pays attention to the retraction, the damage is done.
Fox just reported that the guy’s family doesn’t support his statement. ie, he’s not ‘factual’.
If the comments in today’s NYT story on this are any indication, there was no damage to speak of. Everyone is laughing at it.
