What is so funny here is that I can not remember one thing in my family when anyone talked about the queers..as a matter a fact I never knew what one was at all until I was around 24 yrs old..never heard any mention in school about someone different than myself..I felt like an idiot when I got a note telling me I was sexy and the note came from my assistant then I found out..I remember almost throwing up..thinking about it..

***as a matter a fact I never knew what one was at all until I was around 24 yrs old.***

Same here! I often heard the term and thought it was just someone weird.

It wasn’t till I got in the military (Served KP one day at the outprocessing homo barracks at Lackland AFB) that I was told what they were. I was so ignorant of it that I could not believe such a thing could be and said to myself, “NO! That is just not right! Not Natural!”

Since that time I have noticed little homo jokes in the last 80 years of movies.

The Maltese Falcon(Peter Lorie and his cane)

The Phantom President (Ah, a sunflower! Swish sister swish!-Jimmy Durante)

Wizard of Oz (I’m just a dandylion!-Burt Lahr)

Ivanhoe (Master, I heard there were Normans in the castle so I went to lock up my wife, and she locked ME up instead!-Wamba the Fool)

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE WC Fields in china “Where am I?”

Hotel Proprieter-”Wo Hoo”

Fields: (looking at the flower in his own lapel, grabs it and throws it away) “Don’t let the daisy fool you my friend!”

man u sure where sheltered

i knew what a queer or faggot was by 3rd grade...and I’m 54

sissy too....and they got teased...that was life and most boys grew up to be men with chins and brows and did not let their wife drive them around like now...Lord I hate when i see these GenX and Y sissies doing that

but in the deep south queer..as in “quore” meant odd or peculiar for a long time

“yep...those folks down there in Leaf River slough always seemed a mite “quore” you know”

like that
